  5. I am have slightly more than 89 days to go.if Paul has 89. As always looking forward to the chase season. This might be daft I always enjoy getting off the plane and smelling the Texas air as you walk from the plane into the terminal, especially if its humid. YUMMY ! Second moment is arriving at the reception of the Best Western and grabbing a fresh coffee.whilst waiting patiently to be checked in. Third , getting up early on the first day and looking out over the Dallas skyline. Oh yes Tom
  6. Hi Mike I am flying out of Manchester via Heathrow on the 7th May. Tom
  7. Hi Mike Firstly , you do not need any know how because we are there to do the necessary. If you have an interest in tornadoes/weather/storms that is enough. As for specialist equipment all you need to bring is anything you want to use to take photos or video. You can bring a laptop but not totally necessary. We start in Dallas and will head where ever there is the best potential for severe storms. At the end of each day we find a motel , hopefully near to where we are. Occasionally we drive towards the target area for the following day. To give you an idea. One year we left Dallas and chased storms around Oklahoma City. The next day we chased around Ardmore Oklahoma. Last year we found ourselves heading from Dallas to the Oklahoma/Kansas border and then into Kansas/Nebraska/Texas and then New Mexico. We saw some lovely storms. Whilst chasing we eat fast foods but do occasionally find time to eat properly, steak is always eaten when we see a tornado, unless you are vegetarian, We have fun.
  8. Stevie are you flying BA VIA Heathrow ? Tom
  9. Hi Stevie I am flying from Manchester the day before too. What flights are you on? Tom
  10. Welcome to Tour 1 Madeleine if you need any assistance in arranging your trip just hollar.. Unfortunately I am flying out the day before but there may be others coming out the same day as you. . Tom
  11. OK so once I get New Years day over I will get my room at The Best Western in Irving booked. Tom
  12. Oh as for booking flights . I checked prices every evening some times 2 or three times or more and suddenly they had dropped considerably , so went for it before it went up. Strange really.. I had a similar experience with SAS when flying to Sweden. Dont just think the price you see will not change because it can suddenly drop. Tom
  13. Well my flights are booked with BA both ways and I fly out on 7th May. I booked my flights back in September during the sale. I think I paid less for next years flight than I paid this year. Not sure yet who will be flying out at the same time but for sure will be booking the Irving Best Western again. Its like going home. At least I know who I will be with on Tour 2. Tom

  15. Not only storms, we meet interesting folks along the way This country singer was doing Route 66 to promote his new album and we shared a few songs together, Jessie, Brendan and me. I did not video me. We met at the Big Texan, Amarillo. Tom
  16. More bits. Just along from us was an Italian reporter getting excited
  17. One evening we arrived at the Big Texan early and had time to play a little music. This is Brendan, one of the guests. A country singer in the next room to me had his guitar which he let us have a go on. There is more to a storm chasing holiday than just chasing storms. Some music from the singer himself later Tom
  18. Beat a squall line to the Big Texan, just
  19. Nice one Paul. Have a safe trip home, see you at the BBQ IN July. ps we saw some amazing storms Tom
