  1. We were going to travel to Boscastle tomorrow morning but have cancelled the trip due to the severe weather warnings. BBC have warned people about travelling to Cornwall on the M5 as conditions are dangerous and will only get worse.
  2. Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this but we have just had the most amazing storm I have been witness to in years! The cell was slow moving, no wind, the hail was mostly the size of small marbles, one of the lightning strikes, must have been so close to our house. It sounded like an explosion and the windows, floor and ornaments shook! It was so thrilling. The cell is now moving over Ringwood, Verwood, West moors. Still hearing rumbling in the distance. I'm happy!
  3. We have thunder and lightning here at the moment. We are doing really well so far this year!
  4. Just read this and thought this might help! http://beforeitsnews.com/story/1972/395/Unexplained_Triple_Mystery_Booms_Rattle_Houses_In_Northern_Region_Of_France.html
  5. A while ago we had a lovely heavy shower with a touch of thunder. It is looking quite stormy here at the moment, a welcome return I say!
  6. Thank you Love Snow - couldn't put it better myself!
  7. A plea to join the national spawn count! It looks like it is essential to record our sightings. http://www.naturescalendar.org.uk/article_5.htm
  8. Wasp? Goodness me that really is early! I saw five ladybirds, 10 frogs and two bees today in the garden. Also, the crocuses, are in full flower. Also, forgot to mention that our plum tree is in full bloom.
  9. Talk about famous last words. We can hear the frogs singing tonight. About time too! I love to shine the torch onto the pond and see their little white throats bobbing up and down in the water....I'm so sad
  10. We are missing the frogs here. It is usual for us to hear the frog chorus at night from late Jan through to March, but so far we have only heard their song for one evening early this month. Last year we counted more than 20 frogs in the pond at any one time, but this year, so far we havn't seen one! It might be that the conditions of the water has changed, but this really is late for the frogs appearance in this garden.
  11. That really must have been upsetting for you to see Coast! Were they all dead? Have you seen anything like this before in this area?
  12. Lol - glad its old news. I personally think that the MOD theory is not as dramatic as the natural forces of mother nature.
  13. A couple of years ago we stayed in Lynmouth for a holiday and got friendly with an old couple who lived in there. They told us that there were a few local people who were waiting for the release of certain MOD files, which they hoped would prove that the 'weather' that brought the flooding was due to the MOD in Sailsbury 'peppering' the clouds. I have no further information on this and do not know how much of it is true, but thought it might be interesting to bring it to light.
  14. Agreed, it shows the miricle of snow. Everything has to be the right ingredients for it to form, fall and settle.
  15. Snow lying on grass, rooftops etc but it has melted on roads, pavements etc. At least we can say we have seen snow this winter
  16. Moderate/heavy snow here now. Settling on grass, rooftops, cars, but melting on roads and pavements. Is the PPN moving faster than expected as I thought the heavy stuff wasn't supposed to hit here until 12.00am?
  17. Nice to know that a neighbour is as snow mad as me! Snow stopped for now. The real stuff should be with us by midnight, fingers crossed.
  18. #Hey hey....I agree - its snoooowing! It is settling at Colehill on the roads. Radar suggests more on the way!
  19. Please don't get too excite Divaee. I am searching for evidence that we in Bournemouth/Poole will see some white stuff, but met office says 'no', NAE is maybe (notice big blue cell over Purbecks) and the GFS forecast is for rain. I am trying to keep grounded......hard though
  20. Very, very light snow grains here, been falling constantly for about three quatres of an hour.
  21. Yes SW I was quite relieved to see that the GFS is showing rain for us at the moment. Can't remember how many times snow has been forcasted for our area this far in advanced, only to be downgraded to rain at the final moment. This might be a great set up for us!
  22. Snow is lying as slush on top of garages, sheds and cars, melting as it has hit the ground. It was still snowing lightly here when I last looked.
  23. Thats geat! Thank you so much - mystery solved
  24. Thanks Andy, I thought I remembered the same post, but have also forgotten the explanation. It certainly is interesting though!
