its totally wrong see Essan post above or even the wetterzale sea temps on here..sea temps are mostly above or around average across the North Atlantic and around the British Isles :winky:
expect to see some snowfall across northern and western Canada towards the middle of the week even at lower levels and def across the Rockies..we have a daytime high posted of 5c on Wednesday here in Edmonton..and lows of -6c outside the city.
im on site in jasper right now in the canadian rockies..tis lunchtime here..there has been a big extension of snow cover at higher elevations in the last 10 days...cool and cloudy at times today temp around 7c which is about 8 or 9 degrees below normal.
strange how this story rears it ugly head year after year..i can see no evidence of the current shutting down changing course or weakening..as has been touted so many times in the last few years..its just the same old story dressed up in new clothes...no doubt it will disapear only to resurface again this time next year.
Well its been a cool wet summer in Alberta and has been very autumn like since mid August..already had first frosts with day time highs in the low teens if that..been some early snowfall in the rockies..where as the east and west of north america have had a hot summer we have been the cool sandwich in between.
all the trees started to turn here over a week ago and lots of yellows and reds already maybe thats because autumn only last for 2 months..sept and oct.
Yes i remember the spring of 1990 being exceptionally sunny more than the heat of early August 1990..and of course Italia 90 fell in between so that makes the whole 1990 thing a bit more magical too!
in the midst of a severe thunderstorm with very large hail and torrential rain..i think this is the 14th straight day we have been hit by a thunderstorm and this is a whopper!!!..the whole house vibrates as the thunder is soo loud
mine goes back to the summer of 1978 when i was 11 years old...i was camping with my best friend in my back garden as you do when you are 11..anyways we got up at daybreak to do some scrumping and not get caught as you do as we wondered out of the drive we both notice a silver object moving back and forwards between two clouds..i cant remember how long it did this but must have been for a couple of minutes before it shot of at what seemed like great speed.
It definetly wasnt a plane as it made no noise..or any kind of balloon because it moved so fast..i never seen any such thing since..and to be honest i didnt think that much of it at the time just the fact it was a bit weird but maybe those things happened around daybreak..it wasnt until maybe a couple years later that i thought that maybe there was something more to what i had seen.
Im not really a UFO buff or anything so i only ever recall this story if someone mentions UFOs etc..needless to say we robbed some apples that day!!
Here in Edmonton Canada it was one of the mildest winters on record in contrast to the uk..we are in the midst of a cool wet summer following on from a cold wet spring..im expecting it too much colder and snowier here this winter than last..but then again what do i know about weather in western canada..i do know it will be a long cold winter compared to the UK whatever happens
we seem to be on a daily treadmill of thunderstorms right now...i think i have seen a storm at least every other day for a month now..this last week it has been very wet even by uk standards..the canadians guys out on site say they havnt seen anything like it. Its usually sunny and warm and pretty dry..seems like wet summers are following me around!! looks like its going to pretty crappy again this week!
finally stopped raining here in edmonton..i understand it has ben a cold very wet spring here..hopefully going to get some summer weather from mid week next week after short warm spell over the weekend.
surely moving to the artic would be last you would want to go...remember its 24 hours daylight..best bet is to migrate to new zealand in the summer and come back here for winter
