    Me too. And, I'm not really much of a 'lefty'! I heard a 'sceptic' (in reality an outright denier!) babbling-on about 'subterfuge,' 'data-rigging,' 'the globe's been cooling for years,' blah blah blah, on the radio yesterday...When will these people start using facts to back-up their claims??

    I wonder what the costs (to our precious economy) will be, of doing nothing?? Even with my scepticness(?) scepticity(?) scepticality(?), I wonder what'll happen if/when 90% of the world's paddy-fields are rendered useless due to inundation...Will the free-marketeers re-educate rice (as in Lysenko's 'cunning plan' to teach maize to grow in Siberia? ) to grow on mountain slopes???

    Quite! The 1979 New Year outbreak was given about three days to live by the MetO at the time...So, cold-spell evolution/snowfall are notoriously hard to predict - even by those who have a clue!

    Can I repeat: there's no problem with people's posts/views on the models reflecting their-own areas! It's not 'bias' - it's reality...For instance, why would I base my prognostications on what the GFS shows for The Old Kent Road?? Cut each-other some slack!

    I agree, Ian...Whether folks see 'upgrade' or 'downgrade' seems to be entirely dependent on chasing snowflakes at T+96+...We all need to wait?? A cold spell 'of sorts' has been progged for quite some time...But the details never really have...

    I guess it's down to snow being so marginal? Afterall, the difference between rain, sleet and snow can be a very fine balance...I don't see how anyone can really expect the MetO to 'stick its neck out' just yet - all of the models are still in the upgrade-downgrade flip-flop mode. I don't expect that to change?? :unsure: :unsure:

    Some of the GFS runs have been so 'out-of-this-world,' it's hard to see how they could possibly 'upgrade'?

    No, CB - I was only 'thinking out loud' and trying to clarify that thinking, is all...I cannot see how hysteresis can be anything but a true phenomenon.

    Thanks CB...Good stuff!!! Is that the mechanism of hysteresis...if so it makes sense (to me) both in terms of QMS and SMS...And, it's bloody good revision!! Just a quickie?? When you chose the names Tom, Dick and Harry - were you alluding to Quantum Tunneling?? Time for a Great Escape, methinks... :blush: :blush: Anyhoo. Good work, guys!
