A true stonker! Let's just hope it comes off!!!!!
-
I really hope so, GP! Whether it does or doesn't pan-out that way, your insight (together with JH's et al) is worth all (my!) comprehension problems!!
-
..and one of the ironies of world politics is that, by some definitions anyway, extreme left & extreme right attitudes tend to meet somewhere round the back anyway - National Socialism, anyone?
Absolutely! And now Griffin's NSDAP (sorry, BNP) are allying themselves with whatever populist 'movements' that they can lay their grubby little hands on...
IMO, history has many a precedent for the way extremist ideologues fear (and thus treat) science and intellectuals: Lysenkoism in the CCCP, McArthyism (sp?) in the US, and Hitlerism in Nazi Germany??
What starts with empty-headed tirades against all (non-AGW sceptical) climate scientists, will put us all in danger, IMO? I, and many others, have lost relatives because a rabid nutjob gained power - through 'democracy'!!!
Maybe, this time, evil can be stopped - using democracy???
-
I agree Ian...Because (IMO) at the end of the day, the 'deniers'' best friend has been the MetO's 'closed-shop' mentality...At least now (once we can all see the data) there'll need be more than just simply 'crying foul' required to back-up their claims...

Dry and sunny, 8C...

"Otoh, it's a standard mantra that 'warmers' are all leftie/commie/grenie na*is or similar nonsnese so you should be careful about what stones you cast "
Perhaps that's due to the reliance on state funding and full-blown support of the BBC?
Are you suggesting that, once the Tories return to power, the warmers will suddenly all become raving fascists? No. I thought not!
I'd rather the scientists relied on State funding than had to go cap-in-hand to the energy conglomerates...Like they'd hand-over their data for public assessment!
-
Far Right or Far Left - does it really matter? There are 'extremists' on all sides of every divide...
But, one thing I did notice??? Although Griffin's rhetoric went from bad-to-worse in lumping all (non-sceptical) climate scientists with such evil dictators as Stalin and Mao, he excluded his Uncle Adolf from criticism; but, him being a well-documented Holocaust Denier, is that really so surprising!
The 'sceptic' in me want's no alliegance from this horrid little man...I don't want him associating himself with genuine scepticism, for nothing other than his own personal political gain!
Do you mean the hard-core left?
Left and Right both, I hope!
-
I agree that Brown's denigration of all sceptics (I am one myself ) was not a clever move at all...IMO, lumping everyone together like that, as if we all believe in fairies, is a Straw Man, Mr Brown!

Dry and sunny, 5C. Though sun is hazy, due to back-edge frontal cirrus...

At last a politician with some balls, unfortunately it's the odious Nick Griffin!
However he makes some valid points, lets hope the more mainstream politicians come on board, instead of being spoon fed misinformation from their puppet masters!
'Tis a pity he lets them do all his talking, though...
But, it looks rather like he's swallowed all the misinformation he's been fed by his backers - his 'valid' points being all mangled-up with empty vitriol...A Straw Man in the true sense of the word?? Who are the 'thousands of climate scientists,' exactly?
Then again, I guess it's better than his Holocaust Denial? A prime candidate for the 'black helicopters' methinks...

'Morning Ian...New day, new evolutions?? Wait and see, methinks?
-
Let's see what happens after the MetO releases 160 years' worth of data..?
Should be interesting, to say the least!

Well, people might think of me as a summer/thunderstorm poster here, but winter is my favourite - it's just that I'm like Kay - I read and absorb the forums but don't post much. Also, where I live there are no streetlights (about which I'm glad 99.9% of the time), but it does mean that seeing falling snow after dark is harder.
I fitted some outside lights for my snowflake obs...

Oh, what'll you do now, my blue-eyed son?
Oh, what'll you do now, my darling young one?
Pete T. will love it!
Cheers Bob!
Eeeeeeeee Haaa!

Are we not directly adding CO2 to the atmosphere, irrespective of any other processes??
-
I wonder why we don't see any coldest months on record at all, in global terms??
-
Dry, cloudy and grey, 7C...

The Devil is in the detail...Although I'd hate all that dry, cold, fog-prone dross that the 06Z solution would provide, I doubt (hope not!) things will develop quite that way. That said, we are almost reaching the point where a marked cooldown is certain. Aren't we???
What shape and orientation will the HP have on the 12Z??
-
Righto, we'll close this until AFTER the Investigation releases its findings. At least there should be something real to discuss by then.

We really do need Stratos Ferric back, IMO; he was the originator of this thread, not me.
What's more, I cannot do his thread real justice...Come-on SF???
