  1. Here goes, WM: Min temp 3C, max temp 8C, and a SSE wind @ 17mph...
  2. Hi LB... It's refreshing to see so many young people having an interest in the weather...May I suggest that you get involved in the Model threads? Ask as many questions as you like, there are many experienced peeps contributing, and you'd learn a lot. I have!
  3. They could well be wrong. Anyhoo, if the GFS is anything to go by, there'll advancing glaciers on the South Downs before February's out!
  4. But, DM...No-one is saying that all glaciers everywhere are retreating. There are many parts of the world where the only meaningful effect of GW (so far) is a net increase in snowfall... If the mean SL temperature at glacier 'x' rises from -45 to -40C, and the snowfall increases due to psychrometry, one would expect it (the glacier) to advance - I think???
  5. There was a tap on my window too last night...I think there's mad plumber about!
  6. Wouldn't want to see an inversion with those uppers!
  7. I know that there's no way of knowing; but, I do wonder whether the GFS would have picked-up on late December 1962's synoptics this far out, had it been in existence??
  8. Yes, as you say, it would be something special (if it ever happens! )...You're not suggesting that the North Sea's going to freeze over, are you Dave??
  9. I know, mate...It really is so sad that it makes me angry! It's like Tall Poppy Syndrome! We had a young girl in tears one morning. Why was she in tears? Because the Internet said that the World is going to end in 2012! Too much of a 'good thing' can definitely be bad for you?
  10. GFS is being very persistent (so far) with its idea of a cold blast in FI...But (somehow?) I really don't think we'll be seeing sub-12C 850s into the SE??? That's bloody cold!
  11. Just the usual pile of unsubstantiated conspiracy-theorist nonsense...
  12. Well, no-one's forcing you! I couldn't resist... Anyhoo, let's all keep it polite and friendly, eh??
  13. Sorry Dev...I didn't mean 'good' in the sense that I believe he's done anything wrong; but, in the sense that he's confident (justifiably IMO!) that he'll be exhonerated by whatever the 'enquiry' reveals...It also puts him (for the timebeing, at least) less susceptable to the cynics' anti-scientific rantings...
  14. New thread up-and-running, peeps... http://forum.netweather.tv/index.php?app=forums&module=post&section=post&do=new_post&f=1 Will leave this one open for a wee while.
  15. The mountains are glowing orange in the sunrise. Lovely!
  16. Either that, or planes loaded with rock salt??? Why else would ice retreat in a cooling world... Anyway, back on topic, it's good to see that Prof Jones has stood aside. Now we wait!
  17. I don't think I'll get excited until any of that approaches the 120hr timeframe...It's nice to see the blues and purples again, though!
  18. Well, I'm certainly not claiming that I know everything. But, I do know the difference between political-motivation and data...Now, the HADCRUD data may be flawed, fiddled, massaged or whatever...But, if it is, wouldn't those with a vested-interest have proved it by now??? All I'm asking is: where is the 'smoking gun'???
  19. However sceptical I am, OGTB - I cannot envisage the complete melting of Antarctica by 2100...
  20. But surely DM, it should be the science (and not public opinion) that finally decides?? I am a member of 'the public' but I aslo have a science degree... :winky: So - where is the 'smoking gun'?
