  1. You're right enough, Daniel - I should have used 'many' instead of all...
  2. As lovely as those fax charts are, Karl, they beg an awkward question: why are eastern parts not included in the MetO's warnings?
  3. I assume that the Met's snow-warnings are based on their belief that the weekend's winds blow from the NW...Though it'd only need a wee shift towards due north for us to be in the firing line. I'm not too hopeful though.
  4. Och weel - if the MetO's warnings end up being correct, all of us in this reason can wave goodbye to any snow...
  5. A chart that very-clearly screams potential...though for what is anyone's guess.
  6. So the putative slider-low has had its trajectory adjusted a bit north and east? So what? There are still 5 or 6 days in which can go up and down the country like a yo-yo... Anyway back the GFS. Which, BTW, does not control the weather! We do seem to still be in the realms of an amplified Atlantic ridge (of sorts). But, for how long?
  7. So what'll it be today? Are we definitively on the slide? Or are we still firmly stuck on the roundabout? Anywho, we're off to a cracking start!
  8. And there it is...the Triangle of Doom sticks out all on its lonesome!
  9. So, it's nearly time for the next round of GFS mayhem: With the weekend's fun and games securely nailed on (or should that be deftly held together with a giant blob of Blutac!), the potential for a FI dose of super-snowy easterlies is far from a done deal...Interestingly, the ensembles show that the Op's plunge into Moominland is backed-up by only one other member... So, even though many of the building blocks seem to be coming together, just at the right time, more runs are needed.
  10. Aye, S...the three-month-long perpetual blizzard ( that deposits 30cm of snow each day) is clearly not on the cards. This time!
  11. I's hardly on its own with the foot-finding is it? Anyway, with uppers anywhere between -6 and -10C (GFS) likely, many folks will see some of the white stuff this coming weekend...Can't really complain about that, eh?
  12. It's shaping-up to be something of a throwback to the early winters of yesteryear, IMO: I can remember many-many instances of cold and snowy northerlies; '67, '68 and '69 all had them... And, if I remember rightly, the following New Years all had some kind of snowy easterlies. That's why the last few GFS runs have tweaked my interest...
  13. Is this the fourth successive run that has ended with snowfest, I mean block?
  14. Looks as if the really mild air will be kept to our south: Even more interesting:
  15. Right then, what have we here: Snow in the North? Aye. Snow in the Northwest? Aye. Snow in the Midlands? Aye. Snow in eastern coastal regions? Aye. Snow in the Southeast? Aye. And some folks still aren't happy!
  16. It certainly seems that way, Froze. But, given all the 'trends that never were' that teased us so badly last year, I'll think I'll temper my excitement until the 1987-esque block comes within a reliable time-frame... Until then, there's still the upcoming weekend's 'not quite Snowmageddon' to enjoy!
