  1. I think we're better-off leaving that kind of speculation to the likes of James Madden?
  2. I'll take that back; they're even funnier than Ant and Dec!
  3. Oh, I don't know - Jim Davidson and the Chuckle Brothers do okay?
  4. It must take those Great White Hunters years of steadfast practice, in order to shoot a pheasant at such long range...Either that, or they have penile dementia?
  5. I bet that's tomorrows' Daily Express's front-page headline!
  6. I agree with all you say about new housing, PIT, of course it should be constructed away from flood-plains; however, Bristle is talking about existing homes, so I hope you're not suggesting we abandon those whose homes are already under constant threat of inundation?
  7. I think I'll reduce my guess, even further...6.6C, please.
  8. Indeed - the last thing we need is yet more bloody rain!
  9. You are absolutely right Stew. I only made that post because, whenever the New Year outlook is mild, lack of aeroplane data is always mooted???
  10. I agree with TWS - winters like the one we have will not become the norm, for several decades. But, for all those obsessed with snow, well, take a look at this?? I'm sure the BBC doesn't air these programmes, at this time of year, by accident. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b008vrwk/10-things-you-didnt-know-about-3-avalanches
  11. I agree with both you and with Ian; I refuse to get over-excited about something that - barring 'lack of data due to reduced transatlantic flights' - isn't even remotely likely to occur within 7 days. But if predictions are still pointing in the cold, snowy, blizzardy direction come Sunday, then a few 'yee haws' might be in order.
  12. Didn't Stephen King write a novel about you and your friend, Tommy, KnocKer?
  13. And, by this time tomorrow, said 'party hat' will have been blown into knocker's woodshed?
  14. Just don't write anything off, just yet...1975 had a mild January and start to February that was followed by unseasonably cold and snowy weather, in March, April and May (not to mention early June!)? IMO, there are signs, however feeble, that things might be about to change: there are hints of rising pressure over Scandinavia; there are hints that the PV will soon come under stress, and there are hints, from the MET (I have trouble marrying all these hints together) of a more NW flow setting-up sometime after mid-January... Let's just make the most out of what we have, for now?
  15. As we get older, Daniel, small straws get more difficult to see, and we must admit that the current straws really are a little on the small side? So, with that wee pearl-of-wisdom, I'll wish y'all a very merry Christmas.
  16. Fair point, Daniel; although I'm not sure that knocker is being 'misleading'? Things are, of course, on the change. That said, judging from what the last two months have seen, anything would be have 'a greater affinity to cold for the British Isles'? So, IMO, things can only get better!
  17. Merry Christmas everyone... Looks like we might be about to exchange our long-lived Euro High for an unfortunately aligned Scandiish type effort...?
  18. I did...Isn't 'willn't' a contracted form of 'I will n(o)t'?
  19. Which is precisely why I willn't be getting excited until something actually happens.
  20. Before my grandkids moved to Milton of Leys, in late November, they'd never seen snow. Now they have. Merry Christmas Scotland!
  21. Let's just hope it doesn't beat 1993's (?) 916 mb. That was a monster!
