  1. I see what you mean. And now they're scared of being shown-up in a retrial...
  2. Just watched the BBC forecast...where have all the thunderstorms gone?
  3. Watch this and judge for yourself... http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p02l4px7/catching-historys-criminals-the-forensics-story-2-traces-of-guilt
  4. What did you want to do then...fly back? You're right enough though: humid, hot weather has its problems.
  5. I remember getting into my dad's Ford Consul, after being in the swimming pool...Aaaaaaargh!
  6. Could those be wave-clouds, over North Wales? Or am I looking the wrong way?
  7. Maybe you should give it a miss, then? Try Sandy instead?
  8. Sorry peeps, I meant 'rule-of-thumb-under-normal-conditions'. And the situation over the next few days hardly constitutes normal conditions. That said, it's usually quite a good guide.
  9. That's not a pilgrimage to Maggie Thatcher's hometown, is it?
  10. I remember many years back, the late, great Michael Hunt saying that widespread thunderstorms are unlikely to occur where SLP is greater than 1012mb; I call it Hunt's Law. But it's interesting to see that in much of southern Britain, France and Spain, SLPs are currently still up at around 1016mb...It's only a 4mb drop?
  11. A stonker of a day, here: 24-25 ever since the sea-breeze started-up at around 10:30-11...
  12. One fine, hot sunny day up there is worth three down here, Rab: azure skies and a much lower pollen-count. And I haven't entirely lost all hope of somewhere in the North West Reaching 31c, tomorrow. It is, though, looking like a bit of a long-shot!
  13. For no apparent reason, going to be with jelly and a cucumber, sounds a wee bit 'Ooh Matron'!
  14. That's a recipe for a good storm, all right...And tornadoes and basketball-sized hail!
  15. Conditions simply aren't right, ancientsolar: most of France, Spain and the southern parts of the UK are under a descending airmass, just now...It won't be until some kind of trough, with its associated shear and moisture arrives, that all of the necessary ingredients will be in place. And that looks like it'll occur sometime between Thursday night and Friday..? Someone else has already used the 'pressure-cooker' analogy... I think! Have I read what the experts are saying properly?? You must be almost boiling!
