  1. I forgot the one in Glenurquhart, in about 1992... I was out by the car, when all-of-a-sudden the telephone wires went a fuzzy blue colour, the hairs on my back and arms went up and I ran indoors. The next second, the lightning flashed and all the house-lights came on - even though they were all switched off...
  2. Come on, peeps? Don't go writing everything off, on the back of one or two model runs...It may indeed (it usually does anyway) all go pear-shaped in the end but, then again, it might not...Let's see what the overnight runs come-up with?
  3. I bought some of that banana stuff on Tenerife. I thought it was evaporating until the kids started to giggle!
  4. See any storms, while you were away, MK? Plenty of lightning-strikes in MK, at the weekend. Good to have you back in control... Did they have any of that alcoholic banana stuff?
  5. What would happen were somebody to unearth a real 'flying saucer'? How it would, forever, dent our delusions of cosmic uniqueness! We are an arrogant species?
  6. I can remember the brown rain, the local papers called it 'red', falling on a Monday morning, after an immensely hot and humid night... But, I guess, the biggest storm I witnessed (technically missed) was in July 1983...Shotgun thunder on the platform at Northampton station, followed by a spectacular fireworks display throughout the journey back to Bletchley. By which time, it was all over!
  7. Do you know what I haven't seen for a long time? Those night-time storms that flash blue-white lightning for hour after hour...Where have they gone!
  8. I've always considered Autumn to be when the leaves turn and daylight hours become annoyingly short...That said, if it snowed in September that definition could come into question.
  9. Three peacocks and a brown thing...Things are looking up! Praise the Lord! Slugs can't fly!
  10. I agree, John. It is a perfectly good forecast - certainly more likely correct than some of the other twaddle doing the rounds - but, I just wish that the MetO would consider re-ordering some of the words, now and again? IMO, it appears lazy?
  11. Well the GFS has LP ending-up somewhere near Iceland, which isn't exactly unheard-of...So I can't see anything other than an improvement in our fortunes. Away from the very far NW, perhaps?
  12. A few cabbage whites and small blues here. Bugger-all else!
  13. Well, assuming that all of the natural drivers are in favour of cooling (moon, sun, Mercury...Andromeda?) the only one left is AGW?
  14. If increased precipitation can lead to increasing ice-thicknesses on Antarctica, then that can only be a good thing for mankind - so long as we don't fritter away the extra-time we might have on fossil fuel-based squabbling!
