  1. Then you are noticing it too, barrie...Just from a different standpoint.
  2. Just seen BBC East's forecast: possibly thunder tomorrow, but weekend's temp taken-down a notch to 26-27C...Which, I think, ties in quite well the the apparent 'dilution'(?)' of the warm air indicated by the GFS 06Z...That said, it could be wishful thinking?
  3. Well BBC (East Anglia) were forecasting 29C, for this weekend...So there must be some uncertainty in the models. I doubt that the MetO would stick rigidly to their own model without taking the others into account?
  4. Morning one and all. Lovely blue sky, the noo... Looking forward to seeing some kind of action tomorrow and - just maybe - sometime Sunday night too???
  5. Morning all, Another warm start to the day: bright/sunny and 18C...
  6. Not according to 40% of Americans, who believe that the Earth is only 6,000 yrs old, it's not?
  7. I'm glad I'm not one of those, then...But, neither do I discount something just out of ideological prejudice...There are indeed many variables that we do not yet fully understand (hence all the ongoing research?) but, IMO, the only way to deny the reality of AGW (per se) is by claiming that anthropogenic CO2 is somehow not a greenhouse gas...And, the ice-melt this year has exceeded expectations, after all? How do the 'sceptics' explain that?
  8. And after spending all of last month willing the CET up to 16.1... I give up!
  9. Warm and very close, 18C...I'm sure that the irritatingly monotonous sound of church bells travels further in muggy weather!
  10. I'll be in Beccles next week, K. So I'll be on the lookout for someone climbing the highest tree, waving a carbon fibre fishing rod! Or the ghost of Benjamin Franklin!
  11. It might depend on how marked the CF turns out to be? I've seen T-storms on CFs in wintertime, on many occasions. So, why not now? BTAIM, models will be models; change is inevitable.
  12. In what way is climate-prediction 'impossible', KL? Is it epistemological? Philosophical? Or, merely in the same way as supersonic flight and space-travel were once deemed 'impossible'?
  13. Cyclical things do, yes. Non-cyclical things (Hooke's law or the change in the mean distance between the Earth and the Moon, over time) don't...
  14. What else are they to do, 4wd? Do and say nothing? It's hardly their fault that Right Wing politicians and media hacks don't understand the words 'could' and 'might'? Would you have gagged those who assured us (about 10 years' back) that, due to Solar cycles, the globe is going to cool down? After all, that one turned out to be a little wide-of-the-mark too? Science is, after all, about making predictions? being allowed to get them wrong applies equally to both sides...
  15. What is that the word 'could' that uber-'sceptics' find so hard to comprehend? There's nowt wrong with disagreeing, that's what real scepticism is all about; but, outright a priori dismissal, which only works after key words have been altered (since when did 'could' and 'will' become synonyms?) is not scepticism - it's zealotry?
  16. It doesn't have quite the same impact as "...call me Mr Tibbs."
