  1. Everything cool and autumnal is so far north on the ECM today! If this pattern keeps up last December won't be the only month to break records Thursday onwards:
  2. Is tropical storm activity over-riding weak GLAMM influence? We should be in phase 1 by the forecast soon.
  3. With so much warmth so late on in Europe I wouldn't be surprised! Things can change I suppose but it's looking like a mild one to me
  4. Maybe one to keep in the back of the mind but 2006 was the warmest Autumn mean CET on record with some incredible stats, a hard season to beat! Sep:16.8 Oct:13.0 Nov:8.1
  5. If September comes out the warmest month of the year we would have to go back to 1890. We might need this pattern to keep happening though:
  6. Could an even stronger area of high pressure from the Azores start moving back in day 8+ Monday? Here's the ECM 0z for today:
  7. Beautiful warm, sunny conditions to start autumn looking likely next week. I wonder if the much warmer sst anomalies around Greenland and steeper temperature gradients to the west are encouraging low pressure to move in that direction?
  8. A good August! It felt much more like summer should be. Looking forward to seeing the met office results but sunshine must have been at least average, coupled with warm temperatures with average rain here with a few days seeing heavy rain.
  9. Hello high pressure. All I can say is this is really what it's all about. Low pressure swinging towards Greenland, high pressure building over the Uk Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from the ECM. Long may it last! For weeks hopefully
  10. Has the upper air pattern changed in recent weeks K? We seem to be getting much more settled weather recently than previous to August
  11. Yes that reminds me of what Knocker said a while back about it being where the high and low pressure areas reside which could mean they travel NW of the U.K on the Jetstream if an anticyclone positioned itself blocking cyclones.
  12. Monday onwards looks like more settled conditions prevailing to end August nicely for more of the UK After this will Gaston muscle in for September?
  13. Before August I thought May was the best month this year but August has really surprised me with settled and sunny weather returning. I wonder if the Atlantic SST's have made a difference to high pressure development? Well here's the anomalies for June, July, August:
  14. Much nicer feel as the cold front pushes through as one sitting on the other side of the fence. Marked temperature differences ahead of it Edit for G.W- Northern England, quite a diagonal on the front though!
  15. So the start of the long weekend: Another lovely day to look forward too. In my book this August is turning into the best month this year
  16. An exciting September ahead! If the 12z is correct we could end up pulling a lot of warm air up from the south from upcoming TS's. All will be revealed
  17. Let's seriously hope heights fall over Greenland. Apparently very warm water around Greenland might help encourage a more northern track.
  18. The ECM doesn't look bad for bank holiday weekend, seems reasonable weather with a ounce of breeze and bright enough. I'll let others go into detail though.
  19. A pleasant fine settled bank holiday for England and Wales as settled conditions nudge in. Hopefully this holds and lots of sunshine is on the cards.
  20. Pleasant warm days at first gradually with the southerly airstream intensifying. For those who prefer(myself included) an easterly bringing pleasant days, cooler nights the first half of the weak looks favourable. For extreme heat lovers the second half looks better.
  21. Could nearly the last week of August be the warmest of the whole summer? The stalling of the Low resembles something like July 2006 had. Certainly a chance of the warmest summer scenario coming to fruition
  22. March my choice for 2012 A truly memorable month. Sunniest since 1929, warmest since 1957.
