30c what nonsense.
Temperatures may be getting frightfully close next week.

Yes the bbc are increasing temperatures for next week also. It would be very nice to see temperatures hit 30c this early on!

Thankyou SS for uploading that. I was wondering how to do it.

I'm still waiting for Netweather's Long Range Summer forecast for June to concrete my thoughts. Hope it arrives soon.

The Weather Outlook has joined the list of long-range forecasts going for a warmer than average Summer with August as the warmest month. Next week could see local highs of 25-28c

Maybe it's the turn of the Atlantic to get pushed back and back and back

Cant complain about the weather on the west-coast today. was a nice trip .. Now whats going to happen with the weather now? . are we going to have a decent June or not?
Yes i think 23c was recorded today somewhere west. Have a look on Model discussion and the latest still shows it turning warmer next week and a chance of very warm weather setting in. Also a chance of unsettled trying to push in too. We live in hope of the former

Some wonderful looking charts there SS let's hope they become truth before long.

With a greeny high on the cards and a la-nina event I don't think we'll come anywhere near
Just looked at the bbc website for London to see potential temps for 7 June and even at this range there saying 23/15. Thats a Mean temp of 19c. I hope the warmth increases and spreads north with that greeny high diminishing

May that Low stall forever onwards!

Yes and pressure may rise to the Sw with the Azores high pushing that low away clipping Nw Scotland and missing the bulk of the Uk.
-
Temps for the second week of June could touch 30c if the ECM is correct. The first hot spell may arrive this early especially if pressure to the east stalls the low to the Sw.

Do you realise that the Summer described above would qualify for the exceptional category, the joint 6th warmest (with 1846) in the entire record?
I personally think the evidence is in favour of a great Summer season. I think this will be the best Summer of this decade and the warmest since 2006 +5.5 over the 61-90 average(#7) Am i correct in thinking 1983(#6) is +5.7 over the 61-90?

Time will tell but I expect July to be the best Summer month. CET something like
June 15.2dry, sunny
July 18.1 dry, sunny
August 18.0 cloudier later, wetter, thunderstorms later
Followed by a average September and for once in recent years a cool October

Here's a old saying which favours this Summer-
'If the Oak before the Elm then we'll only have a splash but if the Elm before the Oak then we'll surely have a soak!'

Not by Alex Deakins week ahead forecast over on bbc as HP is always trying to wedge its way in from the North bringing Easterlies in the first week so nothing notably warm and with LP close by theres still a threat of a gloom fest!
Strange enough on the bbc website things look on the whole very good with temps 1c above average or so. Easterlies at this time of year wont be bad if the isobars open up.

Going by the models the 1/13 week of Summer is looking dry, sunny and warm(even warmer than the 1/13 Summer of 76). Long may it continue!

If we can use all years, then my ideal year would be the following:
Jan 2008
Feb 1998
Mar 2012
Apr 2011
May 1989
Jun 1976
Jul 2006
Aug 1995
Sep 2006
Oct 2011
Nov 1994
Dec 2015
Completely agree with June 76' and if August 95' was as sunny as August 76' then that aswell. I think i would struggle with all that mild in winter though would go for something fresher cleaner air, maybe winter of 2014/15 with polar Nw.
-
I'd go for 3 months like April 2015 relative to the Summer average. An above average month temperature wise but the main thing would be High Pressure sat right on top of the Uk giving a remarkable amount of sunshine with many cloudless days.

I did enjoy the summers of the mid 90s to mid 00s. More of the same would be nice.
What's #2 summer, btw?
1826(#2) here is a quote from that year 'Never, perhaps, was rain more Universally welcolmed by all ranks of people...in the shape of pestilence and famine'

When going by the 61-90 average CET there has been at least 1 +5c Summer season each decade since the 1970's:
1975- +5.0(#12)
1976- +7.5(#1)
1983- +5.7(#6)
1995- +6.3(#3)
2003- +6.2(#4)
2006- +5.9(#5)
Im sure this decade won't let us down and notice how all these years happened between 3-6. I strongly think This Summer is a great hope

The big question is, can the low heights over Europe ease away to allow the ridge to settle over the UK by the end of the first week? In such a scenario there's some scope for a particularly dry period of a fortnight or so, hopefully warm too. It's been a long time since things last worked out that way, though!
Im hoping the area of HP will move over Central England and lead to some great weather just as in April 2015 and second half of September 2015. Temperatures would respond well and would be around 25c max but a cool 9c at night.

Not the best forecast! But I still rest my hopes on Netweather original June forecast of a warmer than normal June. Matt Hugo and Iapennell are also suggesting above in terms of temperature as Summer as a whole. James Madden seems the most optimistic though!
-
I'm waiting eagerly for Netweather's long range forecast for the 3 Summer months. I think they've been pretty good for the Spring months.

I would like to go for 15.6. My original thoughts have increased for CET. Thankyou.
