  1. We have blizzard conditions here, with snow drifting across the garden from the fields, I can hardly see the steps up the garden. When I put on my security light higher up the garden I can look up and see the horizontal snow. Its also gone very pink which is usually a good sign here. At 329m asl I may be luck and get a exceptional covering, if it doesn't all blow away into the Irish Sea - the wind is extremely strong. Shadowfax
  2. It can't possibly miss us now, its so close Shadowfax
  3. I can only tell you what I can see out of my office window. We had about 1inch of settled snow left from this morning and all the cars were clear, but in the last half hour, its started to settle properly, all the cars are going white and the roofs and clear bits on the ground are covering up again. I live in Bacup and its going to be good fun getting back there if this carries on, long live four wheel drive!! Shadowfax
  4. Now snowing very heavily in bury and settling all over the cars outside my office window. 50p sized flakes now. Looking at meteox again, the band seems to be getting wider as it travels nw, and I can't see how it can avoid us! Shadowfax
  5. I have been looking at Meteox as well and that big blob is heading straight for Manchester, lets just hope it keeps on going in the same direction. Its snowing here again in Bury, and hopefully by the time I get home we will have loads more on top of last nights 2inches. Shadowfax
  6. Just turned to a blizzard here in Bury after about 1 hour of clear skies, looks like there is more to come on the radar. Shadowfax
  7. I've just looked at these images and see what you are saying, I think we are still in for snow here, high enough up to stay cold. It has been trying to snow all morning, is gone very dark here and we have very light snow/grains falling. Shadowfax
  8. I have just been out to feed the horse, the wind is very strong, all the ponds and puddles are frozen and there are snow grains blowing in the wind, all we need is some real precipitation and off we go!! Shadowfax
  9. Lets hope its a good one, I would love to see proper Bacup snow that I keep seeing on photos. I have only lived here for 5 yearsand we've had some pretty good snow, but nothing that's ever stopped me going to work or getting out of the house. Shadowfax
  10. I have just driven up the valley to get some bedding for my horse, and by climbing up about 200ft I found there was still loads of snow, we have a covering here, everything is still very frozen and there is still loads of frost on the ground. As the day has gone on the wind has got stronger and it is now absolutely freezing when you go outside. Just looking outside at the moment I would swear it is going to snow, but the forecast is for heavy rain and temperatures going up. I still wonder if it could snow, we seem to be in a weather world of our own up here, it must be our altitude. Here's hoping! Shadowfax
  11. Still snow on the ground in Bacup, I wish it would go now as it's very icy. Raining lightly, fog getting thicker here in Bury, just downright miserable. Shadowfax
  12. Everything still frozen solid, the fog keeps on drifitng up and down the valley. clear sky except for the con trails and we still have about three inches of frozen snow on the ground, however on the cobbles and pavements this is now sheet ice and very dangerous. We could do with a bit of a thaw to clear the paths and my horse would like to see some grass!! Shadowfax
  13. Snowing heavily here and its very windy. Branches are snapping in the garden due to the weight of the snow. Shadowfax
  14. Just started to snow in Bacup, put the dog out for a wee and it came in covered in snow. Looking at the radar pics we could have more to come. Shadowfax :o
  15. [attac hment=59277:DCP_1226.JPG] Snow around Bacup this morning. Pictures taken from about 6am this morning.
  16. Thank you for your help. I managed to track down what I needed by going back through the snow reports and as I expected it had snowed on the night of the 18th March and there was snow on the ground on the morning of the 19th. Shadowfax
  17. Please can someone let me know where I can find a weather forecast for the 18th and 19th March 2007 for the Northwest of England. Going forward is fine, going backward appears more difficult. Any help would be very much appreciated. Shadowfax
  18. We have had very heavy hail showers all morning, the most recent shower is turning to snow and appears to be settling, fingers crossed it will keep on going. Shadowfax in Bacup 1000ft asl
  19. Still snowing in Bacup Lancashire, having watched the sleet at work in Bury all day, what a wonderful surprise to drive home into snow. We are at 1000ft so hopefully it will keep going. Going out now again to put the horse to bed, just an excuse really to stand in the garden and watch the flakes come across the hillside in the security lights. I hope it's still here in the morning so I can take some pictures. Shadowfax
  20. Where have you seen this warning, nothing on Met Office Website for Lancashire or Yorkshire. Thanks Shadowfax
  21. Many thanks for that, we have had some really good falls in previous years, but I have only lived in the "North" for 3 years and now it keeps snowing in London!! Fingers crossed Shadowfax
  22. What about Bacup on the Lancs/West Yorkshire Border, at 325m asl or are we too far north to catch this one?
  23. Had a 15 minutes of white out here in Rossendale Valley, Lancashire with large snow flakes which have settled nicely. Hope we get some more tonight. Shadowfax
