Two weekends in a row which turned out better than what was forecast. For that reason, my hopes for the upcoming settled spell have risen. By the looks of the forecast it won't be particularly sunny, but we'll see.

Another day that turned out better than what was forecast (at least for this neck of the woods). It was forecast to be cloudy this afternoon, but instead it is sunny with scattered clouds.

Metwatch It's hard to imagine a July worse than last years. But then, I thought the same about last year's spring.
-
SollyOlly It's frustrating that we have been having those kind of setups during the spring. Why can't it happen during the winter which is almost always milder than average? Grrr.

3 hours ago, I remember Atlantic 252 said:
Yes, like certain members in winter, who don't post now, former world snooker champion namesake (playing today 10am) and footballer number spelled backwards
And I know exactly who you are talking about.

Alp I would normally agree, but even by UK standards, it has been a poor spring. We would have normally had a few periods of dry and sunny weather by now, lasting for longer than just a couple of days. But instead it's been a continuation of the main weather pattern we've endured over the last 6 or so months with very little progress in temps up until recently. Whilst it is indeed looking to be a lot more settled next week, one week is nowhere near enough to make up for such a dire spring considering that the season lasts for twelve weeks.

No rain over here either, let alone thunderstorms. In fact, there hasn't been any measurable rainfall in this neck of the woods for a few days now and I hope it continues for a while. Just need some more sun.
-
Quite a monotonous day weather wise. This neck of the woods missed out on the rain, but it has been dull all day. Would have been nice to have some sun.
-
I personally can't see us getting up to 40.3 °C again (let alone above) for quite some time. The ground would be too wet anyway with all the rain we've been having over the last 18 months. Even in this warming climate it takes a lot of effort and everything needs to fit perfectly into place.

It's currently sunny and 18 Celsius with a small breeze and comfrotable humidity. Let's have more of this please.

You know it's been a carp spring when people are excited over the prospect of reaching temps in the high teens at the end of April.

Just imagine if the rest of the year panned out like this. I think many of us would find 2024 to be the year from hell.
May 2021
June 2012
July 2023
August 2008
September 1993
October 2019
November 2009
December 2015

Sunset time approaching 8:30pm now for this neck of the woods. The same as it would be in mid August.

raz.org.rain Personally, I would just really like to have a year of seasonal weather for a change. 2003 and 2018 achieved this, so it can be done. Though has been incredibly difficult since.
I think a lot of us on here would be happy with a seasonal year.

Alderc 2.0 I despise those e-scotters and more so many of the people who ride them (excluding those who are considerate).
Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Another frustrating thing about our climate is that whilst I would like to see some more cold records being broken, they seem to happen mostly during spring or summer as opposed to autumn or winter which is when we want it. And when autumn and winter do arrive, it's warm records that are being broken.

TwisterGirl81 I hope so. We are certainly long overdue some pleasantly warm sunny weather now. Be nice to do some more work in the gardens but it's difficult when it keeps raining. Much like this time last year, my gardens are overgrown.
B87 There will be a hosepipe ban too.

Don This is what is so frustrating about our climate. We get some good weather setups, but more often than not they are at the wrong times of the year. The warmth we had last autumn is what we should have had during that year's summer. The mild weather during the winter is what we should have had during the autumn. This current setup would have been great during the winter.
It would be nice to have more years that actually feel seasonal. 2018 was a good year for seasonal weather.

I am still wearing my winter coat.
Looking at the the weather forecast, I will probably be wearing my winter coat for the foreseeable. It's taking a while to warm up this year it seems.

markyo Trouble is, I find autumn these days isn't like what it used to be and am vastly losing interest in it. September is more like a summer month now and at times even the first half of October. This is usually followed by a dull and milder than average second half of the season. There is very little middle ground nowadays.
Bring back the autumnal mists, foggy mornings and clear chilly nights which is what autumn is meant to be about.
In fact, all four seasons in the UK nowadays aren't like what they used to be.
