  7. Clear and frosty 2300 on Thursday evening, clouded over with a sudden temp rise from -3c to +3c by 0100. Mainly cloudy today, bright intervals afternoon. moderate N/NE breeze. Clear intervals and a ground frost this evening. Min: -3.0c Thursday evening Max: 7.7c @ 1400 Dry again on Thursday and Friday Currently: Clear intervals. Temp: 1.7c RH: 84% Pressure: 1031mbar, steady.
  8. February 2013, Lampeter, Ceredigion, Wales Rather cold and quite dry All the rain fell in the first half, with no measurable rain after the 13th. Quite a cold month but with no especially cold weather, nor was there any snow. 1st – 10th: Unsettled with rain and showers at times, some hail, and a thunderstorm on the evening of the 4th. Temperatures variable from rather cold to mild, with some slight frosts. There was a gale in the early hours of the 6th. 11th – 13th: Brief cold snap but without frost and mostly dry, maxima 4c. Heavy rain with mild air arrived late 13th. 14th – 19th: After heavy rain in the early hours of the 14th this was a dry and mild spell. Sunny intervals, with the 17th to 19th being very sunny. Foehn effect from the nearby hills 18th and 19th with low humidity and dew points. 19th was an incredible sunny day starting with a hard frost, low of -6c, followed by a mild afternoon, RH just 39% and dew points down to -2c mid afternoon. In fact the 19th saw both the coldest and mildest readings of the month! 20th – 28th: Dry, cold to rather cold: High pressure first over Scandinavia later moved over the UK, a rather cloudy spell with some sunny spells, although the 21st was a sunny day. Some quite sharp frosts when the cloud cleared, down as low as -5c. Last day saw quite a mild afternoon between frosts. The final 15 days of February were dry, making this the first 'absolute drought' since April 2010 (17 days).   9. Clear periods and a moderate frost last night. Rather cloudy to early afternoon, then hazy sunny spells, quite mild afternoon. Light to moderate NNE breeze. Clear periods and frosty again this evening. Min: -3.7c @ 0700 Max: 9.6c @ 1400 Dry again yesterday and today = now an absolute drought of 15 dry days in a row! Currently: Clear and frosty Temp: -2.5c RH: 86% Pressure: 1031mbar, rising slowly.
  10. It's a very old drought definition, one of several, it does not mean there is a water shortage, more it recognises a prolonged dry spell that this has now become.
  11. Last rain here Feb 13th when one inch fell, an absolute drought now as 15 dry days.

  13. Be good to keep our thread going throughout the year, somewhere for those of us who appreciate the variety of our weather to comment on interesting days/ events/ spells happening around our region!
  14. Don't know what to do with myself without any rain to measure Keith! It's lovely without all the nonsensical snow ramping going on! Should stay like this until November
