What is the sunniest January on record? I ask because the remainder of lanuary is looking sunnier than average and last week was very sunny, so I am guessing hours of Jan 2024: sunshine is running quite high right now.
Sunniest in Coventry was 93.9 hours in 2001so most unlikely a record sunny January this year (Bablake currently on 54.5).

Well for reference those wind gusts are usually the max you get on the coasts and hills in most deep lows in the winter period when inland areas get anywhere from 30-50mph gusts so if those gusts come off it will be quite an experience for us inlanders.
I am inland and near the Teifi valley not so far from you, my anemometer has not worked for a couple of years now and is in the roof, highest gusts most years around 60mph, nothing above 65mph, therefore I would rate 70mph as exceptional for here.

Crymych 2338.3mm in 2000.

Lovely view. Second wettest year here with 1642mm, wettest was 1737mm in 2020 (records began 2006). The wettest years historically locally are around 1800mm for this altitude, amongst these year 2000 and 1974. 1872 was a very wet year, when Carmarthen Gaol had 75 inches or approximately 1900mm.

Thats some of the worst tornado damage ive ever seen in the UK, roof completely ripped off.
Plenty worse such as the Birmingham tornado tore off many roofs.

Just seen this, holy s**t
High 3cape, strong shear and windprofile, good cape. I cant wrap my head around it, in November of all months.
The biggest tornado outbreak ever in the UK was in November a while back.

This and June 2020 are probably the most thundery Junes I can recall for our areas. We have been overdue a very thundery June before 2020, involving more in the way of homegrown thunderstorms.
June 1982 the most thundery month I have experienced that was in Coventry.

Higher pressure across Wales as recent as January 2020 when just shy of 1050 mbar here (peaked so far at 1048 today).
-
Also as per others the December spell was a notably cold one with a 4 day run of ice days and the lowest readings since 2010 getting down to -13c so not to be sniffed at.

I guess there is a bit of IMBY in people perception... from my point of view then, at no point so far in January has it been cold enough here to snow. We had showers everyday last week (rain) up to yesterday and then today where its been drizzly..
15 miles inland from you we have had a decent cold spell this past week, a 3cm covering of white stuff (hail not snow) remained for 5 days only now on the thaw, some hard frosts as low as -7.6c, maxima under 5c.

Hi,
When I try to view ECM it is stuck on Sunday 1200 stating:
ECM 12Z updating. 98% complete - up to +240 (approx 1 mins remaining) - To view the last complete run, click the view previous run button.
Is this your end or mine?
Many thanks.
