Excellent read as always Tony, many thanks! Think you may mean Nov-Dec 2010 for the fortnight of lying snow rather than 2012?
[/quote]
Many thanks amended now! -
Mild won out comfortably on Friday night, yes battleground snowfalls, but not for West Wales or the Central Midlands, close shave for the latter though.
-
Bit more thaw than expected although still have decent covering at mid week. Surprise snow falls indeed - Llanelli and other parts of SW Wales today! No severe frost as yet, cloud all the way.
-
Thanks
-
Interesting local effects across the marginl zone yesterday, Carmarthen snow free (low lying, near sea, less heavy precipitation), north Pembrokeshire heavy drifting snow (altitide, heavy precipitation , evaporative cooling, exposure). Officially greatest LEVEL depths close on a foot Powys. We are yet to experience very low minima, that needs this cloudy to clear, in fact surprisingly another gradual thaw underway today here as it has got above freezing.
-
Seems to have gone to plan today, 9cm here, none/ little further west in Cerdigion towards Cardigan, patchy coverings Pembrokeshire, and a slight covering for SW Carmarthenshire. Quite a heavy fall still underway for the Midlands.
-
Hmm light snow here this evening, I noticed the threat of low pressure close to the SW mid week on some runs late last week, but discarded it as the high began to appear stronger over UK than it has turned out to be.

Disgusting habit!
-
Friday was not so cold.
-
Notably mild by night this week, several nights above 8c.
-
Drizzle quite persistent at times in parts of SW Wales even on Friday, so certainly no dry spell here!
-
No ground frosts for west Wales early week as too much cloud and breeze.
-
Relatively small amounts of rain here in the Midlands since Christmas is allowing the floods to recede. Been another wet week in west Wales though, a lot more to come too.
-
Oops! Light showers here, knew I should have phrased today as 'mainly dry' or 'drier'!
-
No frost or fog this morning as low reluctant to edge away from the east with cloud around it, at least the sun is coming out!
-
Many thanks, 90% cert Christmas Day now
-
Milder wet weather made it effortlessly!
-
Freezing fog underestimated for the Midlands! This resulted in 2 successive Ice days at Coventry on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Wintry possibility did not materialise for Thursday. -
New guide tomorrow, just two days ago I was expecting it to be a very cold potentially snowy week, how that has changed!
-
As expected the low today crossed Scotland.
-
Snowed in parts of the East Midlands last night, a covering in SE Warwickshire, one NW member reported 5cm at Hellidon, Northants.
-
Looks like 'continued unsettled' won the day!
-
Turning out even wetter a week than expected! Very wet for the Midlands today, over an inch with flooding, due to an active wave slowly crossing there this morning. So much for my 'respite' day!

Agreed hence my proviso, however a strong signal since Friday in the models for the fronts to be killed off early this week, as opposed to last Thursday when we were headed for a very wet spell!

Thought it was going to be dry sunny day, sleet, rain now

I don't cover the far north Midlands, however it always looked showery to me today, although some areas are escaping with a dry, sunny afternoon, as is usually the case in such set ups.
