    Wet, a bit of a breeze and cold in Chelmsford. We could be stuck with weather like this for rest of this month ?

    There were many who were getting SOO excited but this is what it always ends up in reality! Has been like this for 5 years. Hence, my recommendation on a health warning for the SSW and what may (or probably will not knowing our luck) come about.

    Covers my shoes, I will call it quits and look forward to spring! This week, a fortnight ago - the charts were showing a potential easterly .... what did we get?

    I think there should be a huge health warning attached to the possible developments in latter Feb. I get the feeling some people are expecting this: in Hyde Park. Seen toooo many fabled hysterical developments over past years, which led to a chilly couple of days and en mass wrist slitting on the MOD thread and beyond.

    Yep, a beefy fall of heavy snow, that hangs around for a few days with frequent top ups in that time, just for us to get the snow crave out of our system ?

    Going on the experience of past, it will be "hello spring" albeit a cold one.

    I am now looking forward to spring! Another damp squib of a cold snap - dry and mundane! Saw reports of 1-3 cms for my area - showers all night but got 1 snow shower that came and went in 20 mins. Don't worry - there is always potential in 10+ days

    Get the feeling that even if everything aligns on the models, it seems to always underwhelm when it gets to our shores in reality. We then have consoling messages such as (paraphrasing) "at least it is a change from what we have - frost is good!" or "2-3 days of cold is better than none"

    This on/off/on/off, always outside reliable range easterly has been going on for 2 weeks already. It is computer weather I tell ya ...

    Make sure the self life is very long ... you could be stuck with it (as opposed top being stuck in snow)

    Yeah, but when we have experienced warmer winters and hardly any snowfall for the best part of a decade, then surely, we should take it as the new norm!? I have to say I am speaking more for when I live and work and that is the SE.

    We need to get used to the idea that this is now the norm! Snow in the SW, S and SE of the UK particularly is now rare, transient events.

    ... and yet there are still expectations that every Jan will be a beasterly snowfest! I an losing the will to live when people still gain some excitement from day 10 models! I have a gut feeling that the 2 snow days we saw last month in the SE is it for this winter. Getting into a cycle of nothingness, then hope and then verbal fights on the MOD thread when it all disintegrates near reliable time.

    Sure it gloomy today! left for work at 8.30 this morning, all street lights were on as were my headlights. Only marginally brighter now ...

    In Rayleigh this morning, another demonstration that snow DOES settle on a sodden wet ground after persistent rain! Massive flakes that turned everything white before it slowed and stopped around 7.45am. Nice to see, it melted quick afterwards for a trouble free run to work

    The most treacherous driving conditions out and about in quite a while. Lots of black ice (away from the main routes) but many drivers driving around seemingly oblivious - going too quick or driving too close to the vehicle in front....

    with 3 weeks left of 2017, pretty safe to say that will be the case.
