  1. Some trees (quite a few) have changing leaf colour. Some have already dropped a load of leaves! Seems very early!? ....
  2. What happened to "SSW" and late Feb / Early Mar freeze prospects?
  3. Probably bought them into stock 3 years ago and now just had enough! My snow shovel is better known as the shovel for autumn leaves these days
  4. Unfortunately, winter weather in recent years is making our expectations more and more limited. Please don't be offended but hoping for just a day of settled snow is pathetic! ... but the reality I have to admit that I hope to see another 1987, which was the most dramatic in my lifetime. Not experienced it for the past 30 years but still hoping at the beginning of every December
  5. well, it is not expected to last 2 weeks, produce 10ft snow drifts and temps of -20c
  6. Some people have emotional issues over the other thread! Computers are trying to model and put order to essentially quite random events. People going spare when something that *may* happen *may not* !
  7. Definitely! The sun yesterday afternoon was lovely The model thread = -> -> -> -> Reset
  8. It is SO rare and with the models and everything else all pointing to different things. I am not expecting anything other than colder temps like last week. How many times this winter has a certain daily "news"paper report we will all be dying from an artic blast? Still here and nothing remotely of the sort happened
  9. We have had a lot of phantoms this winter. Will believe it when there is snow settling on the ground ..
  10. Astounding winter! Billed with so much wintry potential back in November yet has delivered only an evening of transient snow, which all disappeared by the morning. I read some posts of people pitching hopes on the solar minimum in the coming winters ... I really wouldn't hold your breath! Snow in the south of the UK really is now as rare as hen's teeth! I would put it in my area - a max of 4 occasions of seeing snow fall from the sky in the last 1,400+ days
  11. I only really visit the forum section on Netweather in the winter. I think I will call time this year as I am tired of staring at wintry scenarios on the screen and not seeing anything close in reality. Thought there were real chances this year with what seemed like everything aligning (as opposed to a stray wintering bird that arrived early last winter). Ho-hum!
  12. Struggling to get excited re SSW! Last winter promised nothing and we got nothing. This winter promises so much and delivering nothing (bar a snow shower 2 nights ago) !
  13. Snowing quite heavily in Chelmsford but not settling and making everything wet! grrr
  14. Very light rain in Chelmsford. Grey and miserable at the mo.
  15. Temps seem warm, the snow will not settle, just cause travel chaos?
  16. May also be our only experience of "proper" winter this season, so leave the moaning to later even more so.
  17. "Thames Streamer", it has been so long, it be becoming the stuff of legends!
  18. Precisely that! In the past 2 years in my neck of the woods, we have had sleet falling well into Feb, meaning it is often cold and wet - yuck! Nevermind, the weather will do what the weather does .... I always feel that if I stop visiting this forum, something unexpected will happen
  19. Considering we have endured the similar weather patterns since beginning of December, a change will happen but the question is when and whether it is in our favour in terms of producing snow. Gut feeling is that this winter will be snowless like the many that have preceded - too many false dawns. However, this year is particular disappointing due to the positive factors in November ...
