  1. Seems to be kicking off, looks like the cell over reading has gone up to a more unstable area and come to life, suspected that might be the case.
  2. Signs but no ignition, the isle of wight seemed to stop that cell that was sparking up.
  3. I'm seeing lightning strikes in the channel recorded, maybe this is the start of something bigger.
  4. i just went outside, the smell of fresh hot rain in the air or however best to describe it, cloud cover is still pretty healthy too.
  5. I guess the forecast of some action around 3am might be about right the way it's starting to look and being optimistic too.
  6. The temperature here seems to have climbed back up after falling to around 19 at midnight, we are back up to 21 degrees here.
  7. I can only presume so Seems like the ingredients were in the mix but no ignition, i imagine it's all moved somewhere east of Oxford now.
  8. The humidity seems to have increased here, looking at lots of "active" radar, one has rain directly overhead, but nothing fell, expanded rapidly as much south of reading as north of it but flew overhead, maybe will deliver something once it goes further north.
  9. Well these rapid builds up keep starting around here but not even a drop of rain let alone more.
  10. Looks like it passed right over without dropping any rain on us at all. Should be north of here by now.
  11. gosh i literally can't see anything and that cell is literally in front of my window.
  12. oh wow that's literally a few miles south of me, can't see anything of note here, but accuweather updated to say thunderstorms in the area.
  13. this cell over by Bracknell seems to have a chance of delivering something, seemed to build up relatively quickly too, already past here before anything comes of it though.
  14. Sorry might just be an error, it was showing a strike and now it's gone.
  15. Possible lightning starting up on the north coast of france near brest.
  16. It's the best storm I've encountered in the UK, i have encountered a supercell in the USA which was very intense and triggered a weather warning from the weather channel. Still I don't think that beat the Bournemouth cell, far less lightning from it. Romania is the only time I've had to run for cover from a thunderstorm, leaving a forest after volunteering into a clearing around 3km walk to the nearest village where our accomodation was but the entire horizon was a thunderstorm, we walked on for a bit until some lightning passed over my head into a nearby field and we ran for cover into a half built house until it passed over getting soaked in the process. There wasn't much taller than us out there which made it a bit scary.
  17. I bet it looked amazing, i was tempted to follow it after it passed over Bournemouth but the misses who was trying to sleep wouldn't have been too happy about it. The stats are on here somewhere but the amount of lightning to hit Bournemouth alone in a short spell was nothing short of incredible.
  18. I looked at weather data from that night, even the channel was pretty quiet before 10pm, it only really started late and then 90/120 mins later you had that amazing cell.
  19. Even that rain in the channel is running out of momentum, was hoping that might be a sign of something coming to life later on.
  20. also noticing that rain in the channel is moving more easterly than the previous one.
  21. still getting a prediction of thunderstorms at midnight and 3am, still hoping for something tonight.
  22. low to slight where i am, so business as usual tomorrow then.
