  1. Yes I believe that storm did cover some serious miles after coming to life right on the Bournemouth coastline, there was some activity in the channel that started around 10pm, it was all ticking along then between 11:30/midnight or so, then one cell went for land, the amount of lightning accelerated incredibly and then it went right over Bournemouth and carried on NNE from memory. Many called it a supercell around the time.
  2. Another Bournemouth 3rd July 2015 would be nice, was crazy to be under that one.
  3. It all seems so calm, usually there is something on the northern coast of France to boost optimism, but it's gone very calm there too. Though I will stand corrected if that band of rain from Jersey comes to life anytime soon.
  4. I wonder where it landed, used to work in that area and had a job interview by the airport only last week!
  5. West/East Parley is west of Bournemouth Airport, around that way?
  6. It feels like it's going to be very hit and miss depending on where you are. Not this like wide curtain and light show coming up from the channel like i've seen a few times in recent years.
  7. Considering that little storm shot up from France and tickled the South Coast, a good sign for some more activity later on?
  8. it's arrived here! Seen some nice strikes right from my bedroom window, couple of times seeing 4/5 strikes hit at once all locally, so bright, very impressive.
  9. The main cell seemed to break apart as it reached the A34, then a whole string of smaller cells formed again behind it around andover and that line seems to be in touch with this cell that has rolled through some of southampton and winchester, this second line seems to be wider could actually reach me this time, probably would have missed before.
  10. Thats the part that seems to be heading towards where i am, it has indeed very quickly in the last half hour especially so.
  11. Andover got it very good, seems to be heading straight for my work, out of nowhere a lightning strike that seemed much closer than the others though it's still clear overhead. I'm enjoying this, think it will miss here though and move past to the north.
  12. I'm standing on my front doorstep watching a wall of lightning and flashes from the cell to the west of Berkshire, it's clear overhead and it's lighting it up in an unbelievable manner, really amazing to watch it, constant lightning from north of Winchester to right up towards the direction of Oxford all visible here.
  13. It's really kicking off again further west this time. Also something building in the channel that will move towards Kent as a guess.
  14. Looks like some more activity is heading your way as we speak?
  15. Two things are fascinating me tonight as a bit of a novice, how something with so much energy over Southampton has gone pretty much flat the moment it reached Basingstoke, also the activity that was by horsham seemed to be moving northwest at Gatwick, north once at guildford and now moving quite nicely north east towards London. That seems to have kept the intensity far better too.
  16. We are getting the rain here but very little energy compared to an hour ago down south, it's a shame. Also I think Gatwick will just miss out, it's passing close by but to the west of the airport.
  17. anyone watching whats going on below Guildford, seems to be moving much more westerly than anything else happening tonight. Any reason for this?
  18. Looks like it's really getting going west of Horsham right now and got much quieter off the cell that battered the south coast and mainly Southampton earlier on.
  19. just did a sweep, saw three flashes and some lightning, not all the thunder was reaching us, then just as i went away managed to catch something on my phone. It's closing in gradually but not very intense. Think i'm seeing the stuff that's just south of Burghfield Common right now.
  20. i'm going to pop out the front and look south west as the action looks to be moving a bit more to the west of my location based on the current lightning mapper. Looks like Basingstoke might get something out of this wave that's out to your south at the moment. More east than what's currently moving by.
  21. got some nice anticipation going, looks like it's about 30 mins away from Reading as it stands.
  22. feel sorry for my friends hen party in the new forest, not sure what they are doing but they were right under some great action in the last hour.
  23. three bolts of lightning where we did our morning walk today, such a shame we aren't still around there now to watch this
