  1. Heavy hail shower passed through Mwell about 20 mins ago now it's started snowing heavily, not lying much at the moment though.
  2. Has to be Dec 2010 - 8 inches. That's the only time i can remember more than 6 inches in the last 15 years or so here although the previous year nearly went over 6 inch.
  3. Thich chunky snow in Mwell for the last half hour, already added nearly another inch.
  4. Heavy snow starting to lie again in Mwell even though the met is saying heavy rain at the moment.
  5. Is that down behind the church Stuart? You're only about a mile away from me. Yeah looks like that's it until early morning when some more organised showers move in.
  6. Yep starting to lie again in Mwell still heavy at the moment.
  7. Looks like it'll be a slippy trip to fp on Saturday if the games still on.
  8. Sleet here in Mwell at the moment, all it's doing is speeding up the thawing
  9. I'm right on the edge of the amber area here in Motherwell but the hourly forecast has only a couple of hours of light snow around 1-3 am so i can't see much more than another dusting on top of what's still on the ground.BBC have a few hrs of heavy ish snow in the early hours of Friday possibly into the rush hour so agree with the above, if it's still the same this time tomorrow it'll surely be another amber.
  10. I think that's the case with most UK cities, the actual city centres rarely see lying snow for very long. It's probably more to do with the constant traffic and heat coming from the buildings as well as the fact that there's not many big open grassy areas where the snow can easily settle rather than location.
  11. Think the main problem with the motorways is the slip roads. Most of them are on a hill so as soon as the trucks stop they can't get going again.Should be a lot better on the roads tomorrow.
  12. Best snow here in a good 6/7 years now, could be over 3 inches if we get another few showers.
  13. Heavy snow on again in Motherwell, looks like a good 2 inches + now.
  14. It was 3.9mb, kept saying file error.200 Hamilton's always bad in the snow with busses and trucks not making it up the hill at the lights at strathy.
  15. Not letting me upload pics for some reason but there's a good covering here now, maybe an inch in places. The heaviest snow is forecast between about 5pm and 11pm.
  16. Ooh didn't know there were any fellow Mwell posters and it's turned a bit sleety now but no snow yet.
  17. 3 degrees and patchy cloud here at the moment.Heavy snow or snow showers forecast for almost every hour between tonight and wed morning.
  18. For everyone asking about the North West on the model thread this would be my interpretation of exactly where it ends.
  19. Missing my area yet again haven't had a good 80mph + storm here since Jan 3rd 2012.
  20. Pretty breezy here... nothing too bad so far i'd guess around 55 mph top gusts. It's been a couple of years now since there was a proper storm, it always seems to get downgraded to a mediocre gale/several gale.
  21. As an avid collector of zimmer frames i am deeply offended. You've made an enemy for life sir. Personally i'd take wet and windy over snowy and ice any day.I do a fair bit of driving and walking about outside with my job and trying to walk/drive around in snow and ice is not fun.
  22. Few branches down and trees swaying here now, still barely severe gale force so looks like the central belt is missing most of the action.
  23. Barely gusting over 40 mph here at the moment, looks like the central belt will get the worst between 1am - 3am but nothing more than gale, maybe touching on severe gale force.
