It’s been perfectly nice this week. Today is cloudier but even so the sun has managed to come out and we now have long sunny spells and a temperature of 23C. I’m surprised by the amount of moaning on here.

This would do, trust me! A temp of 17 and on and off rain doesn't.

What happened to becoming fine, sunny and settled? Thick black cloud again this morning, hopefully we can scrape a couple of hours of sun today to make up for yesterday.

  2. The poor summer continues.

Missed out yesterday yet again as it was mostly cloudy and breezy with temps maybe just nudging average.

Was in Cambridge on thursday and it was lovely, hot and sunny, returned home to cloud cool and wind.

Forecast high tomorrow is just 14!!

No brown grass here, I'd settle for even average temps never mind warm, coupled with some blue sky.

Can’t complain with this forecast, unless you live in northern Scotland.

A settled, warm week ahead with plenty of sunshine. 26/27c now being forecast for the S/SE on Thursday (BBC also forecasting 26c for London). Met seem to think 27/28c is possible on Friday in the S/SE, whereas BBC are forecasting 23c. After last week where the Met seemed to overegg temperatures in some of their video forecasts I’m taking Friday’s numbers with a pinch of salt.

The Met also talking about some warmer air flirting with the south over the weekend.

For the first week of July that's a poor forecast for my location, no where near northern Scotland.

I've also noticed recently that the Met office tend to over egg summer temperature forecasts.

The recent non existent heatwave a prime example compared to other 'resources'.

This coming week is another example, the App I use (supplier I believe the same one that supply the BBC) has high temps for Newcastle of 17..17..19..17 then dropping further for next weekend, 15/16c!! Well below average but not reflected in the met office forecast.

I know who my money is on.

  4. Apparently this was the week of an extreme heatwave and the BBC would soon fall into line.........midweek now and so far it's been well below average never mind even warm here. Very damp, grey and cool again to start the day and with a forecast high temp of 15c today the search for even average temps goes on. Dire summer so far.

Yes the 0z was a binner this looks more like it.   The cold wall coming from the East on 12z GFS has expanded....bring it on....let’s release those shackles!

This IS  #The winterofdisontent Coming to town to start with.  MetO and professionals will hold back, maybe they have to......but they will soon have to warn of wintry confitions not experienced for a long long time.

We had extreme winter conditions Feb/March this year and also the winters of 2009/10 and 2010/11, surely we can't exceed those spells? It seems like the frequency of severe spells in winter is increasing.

About time too, this week been vile here in the east, not made double figures, and forecasts were rubbish saying this was only for the coast

That's an understatement! Temp has been stuck at 5c all week, wet at times and thoroughly miserable, if you venture outside. Still, it's not as cold as the beginning of the month when max's were 1-4 degrees with torrential rain/sleet/snow for 3 of the 4 Easter day's. Continues the theme of the last 10 month here, eternal winter.

  7. Another awful January day. Mid afternoon, getting onto mid April, current temp 5.4c!! It'll take months of above average just to average out the last 10 months.

Everywhere is waterlogged when walking hounds. Noticed that not all of the daffodils are out yet, never seen them trying to flower this late.

Temp actually just nudged above average yesterday, one day, and now we're back into well below for day's on end. Same trend as the last 10 months.

    Think I'm suffering from SAD!

Looks terrible again. Plenty of flooding around here from the incessant rains the last week....nothing on the model output suggesting spring will arrive proper. If anything it looks to be getting cooler again. Yuck.

Same here, and it's been a very cold rain too. Most day's the last week have been lucky to scrape 4c as a max and it's currently snowing again. Higher ground has seen several episodes of lying snow.

Can't believe that after models hinted at something approaching average the GFS is now leading us back into another easterly! When will this never ending winter blow itself out! Well yes , I know it's already mid spring.
