Anyone know what the record max. cold temps are for this time of year? All I hear about is record high temps of which our part of the world never gets. Cold summer day's seem to be increasing in my part of the world, have we ever had a July/August day with a max <10C? On current trends we're heading there.

Standard fare for us up here nowadays. July and August average temp should be 20C, or a touch under, and that's from data from years ago never mind the current times supposedly warmer climes! 20C+ is fantastic when it happens as it is infrequent and has been for quite a few years now. -
Unfortunately not!

I have a weather App on my iphone (not sure if I'm allowed to mention the name on here) which is canny. I have several locations on the Canaries stored, Adeje and Puerto Mogan on GC. The cloud radars are very good, some incredible loops of the, I think, low level clouds.

If you've the legs head up into the crater, almost guaranteed deep blue skies! It's a long slog up but worth it. I've done the double a couple of times, up into the crater, down to the north coast then return, monster ride. I've been many times to both south Tenerife and Gran Canaria and have encountered the cloud you mention many times. In my opinion it's next to impossible to forecast and very annoying, seemingly forming in small areas over and over again. Watching the radar is amazing at times! We were in Mogan on GC end May beginning June for 2 weeks and the second week was superb with almost unbroken sunshine. A friend was where you are at the same time and had 2 full day's of cloud in that second week. A few times when it's been cloudy on Tenerife, we have jumped in the car and driven into the crater and hiked. I love the blue sky and the light. Fingers crossed it gets better))

Agree so far, if the models pan out as they currently show, 16-18C temps in yet another poor summer. Day's of sunshine and higher than average temps seem almost impossible to get here nowadays. -

Even average temps, 17/18 will be welcome, anything higher a bonus! -

Yet another abysmal June day, max 12C some rain and winds up now. We really do need to see the wind blowing from a different direction, seems to have been from between North and East for 3 month now bar the odd day. -

What's this 'cool' and cloudy? It's been bloody freezing! Endless weeks of our trade wind North Easterlies, usually cloudy, sometimes wet, sometimes windy. Looking forward to this change, would prefer it dry and sunny so outdoor living can be had but even a rise in temps will be a bonus, 10C in June is a joke! -

Feels more like January!! Hopefully the end is in sight, a week now of single figure max's including a couple of day's 3/4C mid afternoon, snow on several day's.......horrendous for doing anything outside and the wildlife. As I've said before, surely we're due some of this global warming/hottest year on record stuff?! -

Reached 13C, lovely in sun but edge taken off in any breeze. Hopefully we can get a temperature above average tomorrow as it's long bike ride day! Swallows been here about 2 weeks now. Looked odd last Saturday, about a dozen of them swooping over the river looking for non existent flies as the snow flakes fell around them!!! If spring and summers continue in the same vein as recent ones the swallows will probably not bother returning.....I wouldn't!! -
Spot on! Hopefully you are wrong as recent spring and summers have been awful. Must be our turn to experience some of the globes hottest years on record!

Atrocious weather, becoming a common theme, cold springs and summers apart from odd days. Keep hearing warmest months, warmest years ever? -

Not here it doesn't. Everything soaked, fields have plenty standing water, all from rain over last few days! And in relation to warmth? Another day of single figure max, 8C today, colder than most winter days, again. Yes I expect more from mid April. -

Temperatures here in single figures all week, very wet and horrible today. Colder than most winter days. The days are longer but weather and temperature wise its just mid winter, again. -

BBC weather forecast appeared to indicate a mainly dry night though looking at radar still a lot of showers coming in off north sea. -

Just back from a bike ride up Northumberland, canny covering between Morpeth and Belsay and numbing to ride in. Snowing back home now. -

You can't compare east/north east states with UK, weather wise. Read up on the climatology of both places and be realistic. Our winter climate is mild. I remember reading a book round about 1970's re UK winters which stated lowland snow an infrequent visitor and it was rare to hang about for more than a couple of days. Yes, very occasionally we get a 2009 spell but that is very much the exception. We've had a couple of snowfalls here so far this winter with plenty of Sept/Oct frosts and a cold week and a bit just finished. November and December mild though. Double figure temperatures in any winter month is not crazy or rare! As the world allegedly gets warmer I just wish that some of that warmth would transfer to my little part of the world so that I would notice! Summers here seem to be getting cooler, single figure max temps now occur in both May and June and very close to in July. Ironically a number of November/December and now tomorrows temperatures will be several degrees higher than several days in May and June which is bizarre. Don't know if thats always been the case here though. -

Just back from a cracking walk, roads getting a tad snowy now though I did see a plough a short time ago. Totally un forecast down here on low ground, all the doom n gloom on the model thread about exceptional December warmth? Where? -

Haha, just what I was thinking. Rain is changing over to snow here at 60m asl, must be turning white on the hills by now.
