  1. Have you got your pants ready mate?! Overnight low of -6.1C.......
  2. Just seen the weeks forecast and to me we have at least a 50/50 chance of the sledging slopes remaining open this week! Any high ground Stanley/Consett etc look like having a cracking week, winter wonderland up there today. Fingers crossed for us lowlanders next 48 hrs!
  3. It looks like it's coming, get the runners waxed! Kids are hyper and can't wait for more sledging tonight, I've promised them more snow today and 3.15pm can't come soon enough!! Don't forget to enjoy the now, constantly looking for the end will leave you permanently disappointed!!
  4. Just been catching up on the old thread, like your map IF but if we've only received 5cms by this time tomorrow I'll be disappointed!! Expect more.
  5. Ha Ha, I figured! Looking at the heavier showers out over the sea they are painfully slowly edging in, fingers crossed they'll arrive overnight!
  6. Still snowing lightly here, temp risen to -0.5C though, booooo!! Ditto!
  7. For those worrying about snow, keep checking the radar! All we need is a little shift in direction and there's plenty of snow just offshore at the moment! I keep saying it but the North sea will continue to surprise.
  8. -5.2C after a low of -7.9C. Ice day yesterday and I would be amazed if today got above zero. If charts come off in my opinion we would at least equal 2010, fingers crossed!
  9. Anything we get from fronts coming at us from the west will be a bonus, what we have going for us is the North sea snow machine for other day's. This is usually where we get our best falls and as the charts stand at the moment we are looking at some fantastic lake effect snow spells over the weekend/next week. Given the low temps I can see some mega snow showers blitzing us.
  10. Everything's white again after that very heavy snow. Winter wonderland.
  11. IF these charts verify, we in the North East will likely get hammered, lots of 'lake effect' snow.
  12. Apologies, but there's a few wind up merchants on here that I normally ignore but a few glasses of red later....!!
  13. I take it you are new to the UK and haven't a clue as to what a typical UK winter is like? Read up on any description of a UK winter and this is it, albeit it's very wet at the moment. Reached 10.9 here today which occurs every winter many times over. Don't know whether you are constantly on the wind up or whether you really are 'shocked' at 11C in a UK winter? You should have been in the country over the last 20 winters with hardly a frost all winter, never mind snow. This winter, so far, is nowhere near bottom of the pile. You are in for major disappointed should you remain here and keep your current expectations.
  14. Whilst we've had plenty of rain and soggyness you must live in a microclimate in the county. Most days have been cold, we've had numerous frosts, iron hard ground at times and at least one day making snowmen!!I think that's 4 seperate snowfalls now this autumn/winter, maybe you have unrealistic expectations for the UK winter?
  15. Wow, what a shower! Some of the heaviest snow I've ever seen! Eased off now but its a winter wonderland.
  16. Overnight low just below freezing with some frozen snowflakes on the cars
  17. Some chilly nights in the mid single figures in some places in a round two weeks time if this verifies. We had 4C two nights ago!!
