  1. You can't please all the people all the time but for me April and May have been dire. As someone who likes the outdoors, cycling/running/walking/kids activities I can definately say this one takes some beating for getting wet/muddy/cold. It's incessant and I don't know of anyone enjoying it! Give me at least a few days of 15C+ and some blue sky, this is depressing.
  2. Continues to be awful here, currently 7.3C, grey and damp with that old rainmaker the north sea having created 3mm of rain since midnight.
  3. Further north in OON's favorite county, overnight -1.9, currently 4.3. Sunny and calm.
  4. I have WeatherPro on my iphone and love it, very accurate.
  5. After a very dry last year the running total for this one is 49.2mm with March so far recording 8.4mm. Although it hasn't rained in a while 0.2mm per day has been added to the 7.8mm of 'real' rain by dew from the North Sea fogs which were thick here over the last three days! Long may this beautiful weather continue.
  6. Another glorious afternoon, sunny, still and 14°.
  7. Just done the school walk and it's lethal up here, everything is encased in ice in light rain and -0.5!!
  8. -5.1 with full cloud cover, rare to be so cold and cloudy here.
  9. Light to moderate snow for a while now, temp had risen to +0.6 but has slowly fallen back to -0.7 now, dp -3.
  10. Currently 2.4, dp -2. Thought it would be a lot colder by now with maybe a covering!
  11. Forecast I saw on Look North at 6.50pm said down to -3 but as high as +2, depending on the sea's influence!
  12. Local BBC forecast just stated.....cold front coming in from west on friday bringing snow which will turn to rain but then maybe turn back to snow again , huge uncertainty with regards to end of week!
  13. Que?? Thats a bit harsh! Sub zero temps were never going to come roaring in overnight, it's more of a slow burner but it's already cold not cool....this is England not Norway! Just looked at the radar and to me it looks like there's plenty of convection starting to brew and heading towards the coast so regardless of.... Low lapse rate, relatively high pressure without a noticeable upper trough/cold pool and therefore high thickness, and generally not enough moisture or energy to produce any meaningful convection- add this to low wind speeds making any very weak or unlikely for land....quoted above, there are positive signs. It's not going to get any warmer, it's not going to get cool, the temp is on a downward trend my friend so be positive!!
  14. Temp actually continuing to fall, now down to 0.3 DP -1, fingers crossed!
  15. Haha!! It never ceases to amaze me what the North sea can produce, heavy snow or heavy rain, winter and summer (not snow!), when all forecasts have missed it, even just hours away!! A law unto itself, so dont be surprised if we end up surprised this week. I'm not clever enough to see where and when (if at all) but I'd be shocked even after looking at tonights charts, if we dont see a canny covering at some point this week.
  16. Hindsight's a wonderfull thing!! In post 29 of this thread you appear to suggest little precip today, now as it's happning you're suggesting you knew we would be seeing heavy prolonged rain at the coast?!! I'm impressed you knew this would happen.
  17. Very heavy rain? btwn The Wear and Tyne....yet another instance of unforecasted precip off the sea...pity it's a couple of degrees too warm!!
  18. Temp touching -2 and the radar is showing some activity moving towards us from the sea....Will it make it??
  19. Chilly morning up here in beautiful Co. Durham, -4.3c, kids X/country shortly, brrrrrrr.
  20. Just checked and given how crap the summer was yearly rainfall total is a still a low 411mm!
  21. Thats just what I was thinking, everything is as it should be...dormant!!
  22. Nine times out of ten a NW'ly brings dry weather here, too much land/high ground to cross.
  23. You keep quoting 60f, you may live in a little tropical micro climate but here in the NE most days have been nearer 50 than 60, just a little above average. Yesterday it reached 45f.
