  1. The opposite here, another crap day, not sure of max but was 14C at 4.30pm. Been out all day and felt cold in the wind and occ. showers. Probably even colder than yesterday, I've known many a milder January day! Grounds trying hard to dry out completely but the vast majority of the year has been muddy. We here need to lose the cold wind off the sea. Yet another poor summer so far.
  2. Average temps, not many mild days, not many cold days, some ice and frost, some wet snow, plenty rain and wind. Not great but no where near as bad as 90's/00's winters with endless double figure temps and not a frost in sight.
  3. Surely it can't be that different down there in West Yorkshire to Durham? Feels like a very average January here, bit of everything really, including several frosts already. Certainly been well wrapped up on icy mornings the bike!
  4. Glad you said that, thought I was going mad there! It's a cold wind blowing out there and we've just had a light snow shower! Looks even colder tomorrow!
  5. Read through all the posts and although I'm a cold/snow fan, a couple of posts mentioning the possibility of record warmth next week caught my attention as mid to high teens would be canny at this time of year! Just checked the GFS chart viewer and max temps here range from bitter on Friday to no higher than 4C for the next 2 weeks which in my book makes it cold to say the least. Am I missing something??
  6. I'm somewhere in the middle! Just watched the latest forecast on BBC and the high on Tuesday is forecast to be 3C, not bitterly cold but not usual for 19th November!I've suffered many winters here where probably everyday exceeded 3C, so the outlook for the week is definitely at least cold. We've already had plenty of frosts here and the coming weeks cycle commute looks another chilly one!!
  7. An absolutely glorious evening, still 22C, keep the rain well away for me!
  8. Seems to have dried up now, on and off snow showers till about 1pm. Cloudy and cold, 4.1C. Love cold and snow but it's now just a pain in the rear, it's the incessant cold I think!
  9. snowing fairly heavily here, is there no end to this very cold weather??
  10. Woke at 6 and there was a thin covering which melted but the grass is turning white again in falling snow/hail. Yet another March day with falling snow, must be a record? Desperately need even an average temp now of 10C to enjoy the outdoors, first time I can ever remember not wanting anymore snow/ice.
  11. Nothing like spring, hardly getting to an average January temp never mind almost April. It feels like spring in the conny but in the real world it's still me fleece hat! Never known such constant cold and maybe no end in sight!
  12. Snow blowing sidewards here in the lampost light!! Is the north sea coming to life already?!
  13. I take it you are joking? More of the UK missed the snow than saw it!! Not sure if this is going to be news to you or not but the NE cannot be in the middle of every snowfall in the UK! You seem to think we should.Weather for the week on countryfile had the possibility of significant snow from heavy showers NE England on Tuesday. Don't forget, altitude will do better than sea level.
  14. Incredibly cold day considering there's been no heavy rain/snow to lower temps, just cloud and a strong wind straight off the sea. High today 0.8C with a low of 0.3c, which for the end of March in my location is unbelievable. I think average temps now should be 9/10c? Actually, my thermometer maybe reads too high as it currently shows 0.6 but icicles are starting to form on the overflow pipe! Making it even more remarkable is the fact that there is no snow cover to lower the temp.

  16. The very light snow that has been blowing in the wind for the last hour has just started to get a bit heavier and the hills to the west are turning hazy as the snow falls.
  17. Drove through Tow Law this afternoon and the snow is lying deep and crisp and even.I think you are expecting too much for low ground near the North sea. A read of any climatology description for our area will point you to what you should expect. This winter has FAR exceeded standard fare.
  18. On and off snow, lovely yellow clouds up to the north east and the radar holds promise. Just had a laugh reading today's page, everyone writing 'snow falling' etc and being positive while Gavin as usual, looks out onto a different world warning that warnings downgraded only Northumberland now, weekend poor!!
  19. Caused some excitement up here too as there was a covering of snow at the end of October!!Ready for some warmth now, it's been a long winter here with mild days very few and far between despite the usual posters very repetitive remarks of 'mild next week'! I'm still waiting!
  20. Just had a really heavy shower, huge flakes. There's a large blob of orange on the radar, just east of north, if that hits land as it is, someone is gonna get hammered!
  21. 2.3C now and the sun is shining. There's some hefty showers up to the north, hopefully with our name on them!
