  1. Neil that map looks good...... im thinking something similar to 2005 b4 we get sleet/drizzle b4 precipitation fizzles and slow thaw b4 it freezes over..... so 15-20cm looks good bet..... dependent on wind direction and precip amounts.......
  2. Very good..... HEHE...thats why ive not been for three years...... oh well once im there if it snows on way home ill enjoy journey whatever the indoor conditions are.....
  3. I know, its a bit of a maze down there..... got bit lost last time i went..... three years ago.........
  4. I live in north kent but am off to ikea at lakeside tomorrow afternoon and am hoping to see some flakes a flying on my drive back...... would be nice..... ps its -0.5c and clear here...... no wind either, am in sheltered location. PS wind on bbc map is in right direction to pepper a line from herne bay through to sittingbourne as happened in 2005 with heavy frequent snow showers and in two weeks we had 45cm in total. but the largest measurement over any given day was 20cm from one snowfall (thames streamer)...... easily could happen again if conditions are right.......
  5. I would not worry. If your in se you will get snow at some stage. best to think of it that way...... thats what im doing...... although i hope for as much as i can get.......
  6. Congrats neilsouth! Look on bbc beta, going for heavy snow thursday night for faversham....... second bout in offing if ecm and ukmo are to be believed Erm seems a glitch has hit....... maybe too much snow on way and wants to be first thing to bugger up...... trains/buses/roads to follow...... hehe
  7. on beta site look under the weekdays forecast it says nights click on that and for faversham it says heavy snow with 1c.....
  8. bbc beta forecast for thursday night for faversham says heavy snow..... snow bout number 2? hope so if ecm and ukmo hold true...... I reckon if we have a streamer and a front sunday/monday we should be able to get at least 10-20cm here in faversham b4 it turns to sleet/rain/drizzle..... we managed the right side of marginal here in 2005..... mite be lucky and do so again......
  9. Does accuweather use gfs or ecm? Their forecast doesnt tally with gfs latest output. Says 9cm of snow for faversham on there......
  10. Please could someone help me answer a question? I am off to denmark on thursday, just north of copenhagen in the only really hilly area of denmark, a place called Birkerod for my nieces christening. I will be coming back on monday night. I was wondering if i will be likely to see any snow? Many thanks, Will in relatively balmy Faversham, kent.

  15. 42c in faversham on august 10th. Followed by 41c in gravesend and wisley in surrey. 38c will be hit 5 days in a row too..... then this winter we will have the whole of december below freezing with snow measured in feet not cms or inches.....
  16. I remember when i lived in the Isle of Man and was doing my duke of edinburgh gold award practice walk around north barule in the mid/late 90's. It started quite nicely and the first day was fine. Woke up the next day to 4inches of snow around our tent. Then our walk that day was in blizzard conditions and driving snow. It was over 8 inches thick by lunchtime and i tried eating a marsbar from my rucksack and cracked a tooth as it was frozen solid. I had to hold a snowball to my tooth as it was bleeding quite a bit. Then a few of us slid down a frozen waterfall on decending the Laxey valley and i completely crushed my mass tin in my rucksack as it broke my fall. We camped that night but i had to limp down to the camp site as i had a huge bruise on my back. I loved it as it was so unexpected. The rest of the practice was abandoned. Oh the days....... hehe
  17. -5.6c at moment with minus 6c as low in faversham. These widespread lows were not forecast by bbc and gfs has us down as a low of 2c for this morning. Temperature inversion?
  18. I lived in mallorca in the 1980's and remember thunderstorms that left so many trees down. They were fab storms with lightening flashing all over palma in the sky (2-4 hrs of lightening ever second or more!!!). I lived in son vida and we could see they whole bay of palma, we had direct lightening strikes on our house and remember chandeliers swaying due to the force. Best stormsi have ever witnessed apart from peoria illinois in 2006 when i witnessed my first birth of a tornado. Ohhhhh my childhood..... I do love da weather
  19. Remember March 2007? That big mass of cold and days of heavy snow which resulted in drifts over the houses rooves in Denmark? It missed us by 250-500miles. Maybe we might get our time and a big winter freeze-up? who knows?
