  1. I really think the met and people below the 'Black line' need to be nowcasting rather than looking at models..... evaporative cooling will bring snow unexpectedly.... always does always will do.... if precip is heavy enough it will turn to snow..... expect the unexpected..... :smiliz19: I know, Ive seen it with my own eyes......
  2. Eventhough I want Gatwick to be open.....the situation is extremely nowcast..... erm ok chances are low but evaporative cooling can change the situation massively..... as can the movement of that low.... if evaporative cooling can take over i think southern england can see what i saw in the early 90's in the isle of man... rain for four hours, heavy mind, then temp dropped, sleet for an hour, then heavy wet snow for a few hours, then it laid, then we had 9 hours of powder snowfall and a foot of snow was the result..... before that we had nine forecasts of snow which was actually rain.... I was off school the day that happened ill with flu. It was amazing to watch.... Please let me take off first.....
  3. I have pre-booked the hilton at gatwick for tomorrow night just in case going on from this mornings forecasts.....am flying 8am friday. I want to get to Denmark this time (2nd December, 8-10 inches snow here, trains online say fine, trains at station no go, stansted open, M25 gridlocked with abandoned vehicles, still awaiting my insurance claim)....where my brother still has 1.5 metres of snow.....yippie.... and more forecast whilst im there.... yippie..... :smiliz19:
  4. My brother lives north of copenhagen in birkerod. He said a state of disaster has been called for Bornholm, on national news. He said that rooves had collapsed, people were living in churches and schools on Bornholm. My brother in Birkerod said they had a weather warning that said expect 3ft of snow. They got two feet and he has nearly two meter snow drifts. They have had snow on the ground since end of October and they have had six snowfalls of over a foot and it has not melted. On his road they have snow two meters high that has melted a bit and thawed and frozen so a spade cant break through it. He was walking on a frozen solid lake in the forest the other day...... that deep a cold is not going anywhere soon.....the uk will be cold again i am sure of that.... Im off to Denmark in January so shall report later on in 2011...... If that type of severe cold hit the uk.....wowza..... Hope Bornholm gets through it ok........
  5. I think an evaporative cooling snowfall is good, had one in Isle of Man in early 1990s and we ended up with 10-12 inches of snow.... I just hope the low stays far enough south to not let the too milder air in..... looking at updated metcheck (I know its reputation on these boards, but it is based directly on gfs output), could be in for anything upto 60cm of snow monday/tuesday...completely ludicrous!!!! I dont want that as i need to get to stansted on thursday lunchtime to fly to more snow in denmark (15cm at mo according to my brother half an hour ago)....
  6. I was wrong yesterday about storms moving over me in Faversham, but boy was i right about my brother in denmark getting a storm soon.... he had 167mm in an hour and a half....luckily he lives on one of the few hills in denmark....lots of flooding though....amazing image of train station i have been to near him where the underground is completely submerged.... tv2.dk to see.... amazingly not a mention on bbc website etc.... apparently 660 million danish krona damage..... so much flood damage though.... plus more storms tonight and forecast for tomorrow too..... no easing of conditions....
  7. Looking at blitzortung lightening detector lookslike my brother in denmark will soon be getting a great storm.....intense lightening..... and rain....
  8. That lot over manston will be heading west soon i think.....everything moving overhead from that direction, northerly extent soon then it will move sw...... so strange last two days so many clouds moving in different directions.... convergence zones....

  19. Helped friends move house all day today and boy was it hot and uncomfortable.... reached 33c in Tankerton N. Kent and with the humidity and no breeze.... lots of water and a foot dip in cold water in bath needed....so refreshing....
  20. Used to live in Mallorca in 1980s and boy was it hot in June/July/August, far too hot.....even had to get water imported by ships as reservoirs ran dry..... summers too hot there.... It can get upto 42-44c there and is usually very humid when that hot so unbearable....Dont think it will get that bad... but enjoy.... if you can go to Palma for a night out, lots of lovely tapas bars and mallorquin restaurants... or Wellies in Puerto Portals if your down near that way....
