Should we expect colder than forecast temperatures overnight with the added unexpected snow cover, -5, -6 tonight if clear maybe?

Where are the warnings for this snow event? I know its cropped up out of nowhere in last 24 hours, but you would think there would be warnings out for this event?
Its an absolute white out here. If it had been London or further south I cant help but think it would have been made more of a thing.
Brilliant surprise all the same, not expecting this at all. Really thick flakes now!!

It’s a total fail for us, let’s be honest. Hands down the worst easterly ever.
Its really under whelming for majority of us. I think we all expected more from this. Biggest bust for an easterly in my time of weather watching. Far cry from 2010, 2013 and 2018 which delivered and brought around 25-30cm alone from just one round! I don't know what went wrong with this one, was we over estimating the conditions or was it bad timing?

Don't look as intense to me now

Both the bbc & met office have us down for heavy snow from 1800 till tomorrow afternoon, there was me thinking that was it
Providing things start to improve from now we could all be in for a good night. Just need this switch from light powdery stuff to big beefy 50p sized flakes, because atm its not doing it for me at all.

What time are we looking at for things to start getting more interesting? Can't be long now?

Yes, definate change in direction meaning areas of interest for here are moving down the coast.
Might be better for us, anything going around York area for us kept dying out. Its like a shield. But that feature in the baltics looks interesting for sure.

I'm not sure they are actual radar images.... don't think the North Sea is covered?
Not too sure. But for are area have you noticed that we seem to be tracking the snow further down the coast, was orginally Flamborough and now its somewhere around Hornsea?

I think problem is that's it's been more of a North Easterly than Easterly, longer sea track making a difference to temperature.
This should change to an Easterly now.
It looks like its turning more easterly now

I am not shocked of snow melt, its barely a dusting here. You do get some melt even these set ups, theres just simply not enough on ground. Maybe later as sun drops, it will be different. Thats how I see it

Whats meant to enhance the snow showers this afternoon as far as i can see showers are becoming more scattered
Not sure on your question, whilst they make look scattered they do look like they are intensifying to me

Showers here have definately pepped up over the past hour - they're still putting down very light snow, but they're more frequent and longer in duration.
Ive noticed in the light patches and the wind, the snow are bigger clumps than this morning. Must be a good sign

Interesting that BBC has upgraded from nothing to heavy snow showers here tonight and tomorrow.
I know it’s the website but I’m desperate and hoping they correct.Same here

And heavy snow symbols this evening and overnight! Think the interest is more so later than now and this is the starter. Maybe a delay or just an upgrade

Look at met office weather app. Showing heavy snow most of day tomorrow now!

Don't write anything off yet until 12am tonight!! Trust me ✌
I think people need to give this a chance. As day progresses things will get better. Showers seem to be getting beefier as they approach over here.

Coming down nice here now! ❄

Winds definetly changed slightly . All the heavier stuff to north of the amber warning! Unlucky for some.

The vortex is nearly none existent at the end of the 12z run. The main lobe left also in a favourable part. Not seen anything like this end of the run before! Imagine an ssw one top of it. Fascinating watch!
