  1. Well, as expected woken up to nothing but rain here, evidence of snow falling earlier though, some remnants still on the grass. Looks some tricky travel conditions further north & East in the region... stay safe if anyone is having to venture out in it this morning.
  2. Completey agree. Everything I have seen points to it being the wrong side of marginal for most. To put that out just 4 hours before the event is due to start makes me think they have a serious level of confidence on it. Fingers crossed some of our members with a bit of elevation get an absolute pasting!
  3. The location of that amber warning is very interesting indeed, I would have thought that would have been set for much further north & East.
  4. Seems like that band is losing intensity as it pushes NE through Ireland already...
  5. Despite the lack of serious accumulations that us in lowland NW get off easterlies, I'd take a cold crisp easterly with the odd flake in the breeze than a constant deluge of rain powering through off the Atlantic. Fingers crossed for those in the East of our region that we see something epic late next week!
  6. Interesting how Manchester is still within the warning area, I'd be surprised if any snow falls here.
  7. Thats the only set up which imby I will be confident we are in business.. easterlies are usually a bust for my locale, and as we are seeing now, lows coming in from the south or SW into 'cold' air in situ require so many things falling in place at the same time it becomes almost impossible to hit the jackpot.
  8. Tuesday is looking poor for lowland areas in the south of the region IMO. Further north and east looks more promising for a good few hours of snow in the morning. That mild air wants to rush right through us quite quickly, which hasn't happened on the last 2 fronts coming into a cold air mass the last week or so. Very annoying to say the least.
  9. There has been a decent signal for Tuesdays 'event' for a good 4 or 5 days now in various models, I honestly thought it would have been completely watered down already by now.. the fact it hasn't and we are still in the game is quite something!
  10. I think that band of weather has probably hit as far north as it wants to go now... fair amount of showers packing in from the east ahead of that main band though, don't recall seeing any forecasts mentioning those.
  11. That wind is fairly gusty right now, must be feeling pretty raw in any precipitation.
  12. Just looking through the charts this morning, with re to snow, close but no cigar sums it all up I think... (tuesday seems transient according to ECM already at 4 days out) Good signal for some frosty mornings though. Having had 3 decent snow events already this winter I'll take that over mild SWlys.
  13. Having a look through most of the different models, (to my very untrained eye) Saturday looks like it is going to be an extremely close call for the south of NW England seeing a decent dumping of snow. Wales looks like seeing a lot tho!
  14. Upon further inspection after venturing out on the school run, it is very dry powdery stuff here, could stick around most of the day in sheltered spots. Still ice cold here.
  15. Nice dusting here in Sale, nice to look at, most likely melted by 12 tho.
  16. Strange, wind has picked up and now I'd say we have moved from very light to light snow
  17. Well, a very light snow shower has just started here. I'll take that as wasn't expecting anything off this.
  18. I was thinking that... Will be interesting to see how it behaves as it comes over the Irish Sea.
