Yesterday = yuk Today = yuk morning, acceptable afternoon Lot more sunshine than forecast this afternoon, allowing things to dry up and raise temperature up to a max of 5c. Top of surrounding hills have stayed white all day, and its frosty at the moment with the grass nice and crunchy. More soggy weather tomorrow by the looks of things. Nice pink sunset this evening.

Hairy Celt Yep, Saxifraga Oppositifolia. Flowers don't last very long but lovely when out and grows easily in the garden here - just as well as the speugs have a bad habit of ripping the mounds apart, so plenty of cutting material. As for the weather, horrible windy morning of heavy showers of rain and hail - even some sleet around Alford at 8am. Afternoon a lot better with some decent spells of sunshine and the winds dying down, max of 8c. Currently 3c outside and clear skies, but as noted above the much advertised aurora is not to be seen, just a moon halo to compensate...

Wet overnight leaving a cool (9c currently) overcast day with just a few hints of blue sky towards the NW. Brisk west wind making this a definite two jacket (fleece + outer) day. Got to love finding abandoned roads in the middle of a forest.. Leading to the remains of a croft abandoned about 100yrs ago. Sad sight really considering the amount of work that was put into building the road and dry-stone walls.

The mainly dry forecast from the Met well out today as everything is soaking wet thanks to heavy showers of rain in the last 90mins or so, with just some brief sunny intervals to compensate. Currently 10c with a brisk NW wind making things feel a lot cooler than yesterday. Even though weather not brilliant plants getting into the spring mood, Corydalis now in full bloom..

Respectable couple of days with good spells of sunshine and just a few fleeting showers. Frosty overnight, max today 6.5c with a stiff SW wind in the morning. Crocuses and Miniature Iris now in full bloom, a little earlier than last year.. Kids this evening exploring the chance of missing school tomorrow thanks to the spring show up at Thainstone. The suggestion got short shrift...

Finally emerging after Mr Covid paid a unwelcome visit last weekend - nasty little blighter.. Calm, overcast and some spits of rain in the wind - currently 7c. Was reading about the drought situation in the med and went over the European Drought Observatory - really surprised to see they are still recording a moisture deficit across a lot of Western Scotland...

A few snow showers earlier on has left about 1cm on the ground. Debatable that it will be all there in the morning as surprised to see temperature has risen over the last few hours from -1.3c at 5pm to 2c now, with a definite thaw on the roof. Stiff easterly wind as well encouraging the dog to do it's business quicker than usual!
