  1. 6z looks less keen on tonight into tomorrow’s sleet/ snow risk looks more of a coastal feature but shows another area of sleet/ snow potentially moving down later during tomorrow. We’ll see - Met Office local text forecast looks promising still.
  2. Hoping we can pick up a few more cm’s on Thursday. I’m going for a 2- 4cm top up locally here in Sandbach. Similar for Crewe, Northwich areas too fingers crossed Whereas Chester, Ellesmere Port and areas further west 1-3cm with more of wintry mix the further west you go, Nothing set in stone yet though.
  3. Sandbach, SE Cheshire few miles up the road from Crewe 65m asl so proper Cheshire plain territory lol - better than the Wirral but usually not the best for snow as @CreweCold and @captaincroc will tell you. Yeah we along with Gtr Manchester, Stoke and the Peaks were in the sweet spot today.
  4. Liverpool and the Wirral along with North Cheshire and Gtr Manchester saw the worst of it only rivalled by the 17th Dec event later in the same year. S Cheshire was similar on 5th Jan 2010 we got a few inches 5-7cm (similar to today in fact) I wondered what all the fuss was about until I saw the pics coming in from literally only a few miles north up the M6! Stockport way saw close to a ft of snow. It was a great spell of weather though hopefully to be repeated some time soon.
  5. LOL You would be buried on the Wirral - 5th Jan 2010 all over again if that Friday chart came off. Nice eye candy but fingers crossed for you on Thursday I have family in Bromborough and know how tough it can be to get snow on the Wirral at times. Like tonight’s temps have shown you guys really do have your own micro climate
  6. Thursday still looking good on the 18z - perhaps overdoing the marginality this time on the coast IMO so may bring more of Merseyside/ Wirral into play. Not a done deal yet though and slight changes in track will make all the difference. And JFF (Just For Fun) take a cheeky look at next Friday on the 18z - Irish Sea turns into a Cheshire Gap snow machine and gives us more fun and games on the snow front and not to mention a bitter cold night to follow. Won’t be there in the morning I’m sure but nice to see such scenarios are being played around with. There’s kind of a Winter 95/96 feel to these charts. Lots to keep an eye on the next week or so!
  7. Yeah still looking pretty good wintry mix at first perhaps close to the coast on the GFS but snow not far inland and at the coast later on - a 1-5cm (top up for many) fingers crossed. 18z looks more fragmented in nature to my eye than the 12z did though.
  8. Yeah Easterlys although brilliant for Yorkshire and NE England for the vast majority of lowland NW England away from the Peaks and Pennines (although very cold) don't deliver nowhere near as much as snow as a Northerly, NNW or polar low setup this side of the pennines. March 2013 for example was bitterly cold but relentlessly dull and dry for the vast majority of the lowland NW, early Feb 2009 delivered for the east of the region but only gave a slight covering to many west of the M6. An exception perhaps was the Feb 2018 BFTE but even then the London suburbs where I was living at the time saw more snow than many areas up here. Living down in London for 5 years you realise how continental the SE climate (despite all the southerners moaning) is in certain scenarios with nearly every summer seeing 30c+ heatwaves and events like the BFTE making our much loved 5th Jan 2010 'snowmageddon' event look a bit small fry when I had about 20cm drifting snow in North London 10 miles from Big Ben lol! Back to the here and now and theres lots of small features/ potential to watch over the next few days - Thursday in particular. Ice and the threat of wintry showers being the biggest risk tonight though. Where do you think are best placed for tonight's showers and Thursday's snow potential @Kasim Awan will South Cheshire fall 3rd time lucky? I'm hoping Merseyside and the Wirral get in on the wintry potential too
  9. After a partial thaw ice will be a big issue I think tonight. Estate and side roads likely to be tricky where snow has fallen. Wintry showers potentially tonight also likely to increase that ice risk even in coastal areas that have missed the snow.
  10. Sorry for the Cheshire snow spam but what a winter wonderland this morning. We’ve got roughly around 4-6cm in Sandbach not to be sniffed at at all considering recent Winters! The best & heaviest snowfalls are often the surprise ones! Potential Cheshire gap streamer to watch tonight too although ice likely to be the biggest hazard. Normally we don’t see our first snow till January so although no big freeze we’ve been spoilt so far. Hopefully more of the region can get in on the action in the coming days and weeks! 11. It’s been a long time coming mate believe me - off out with the dog in it now! 5-6cm now lying in Sandbach.
  12. Heavy snow, huge flakes blizzard conditions wow best since Feb 2018!!
  13. We’ve definitely been very lucky this morning even Crewe and Nantwich are seeing a decent covering. Stoke probably has had a good covering too. Talk about rubbish luck that you were away though.
  14. Heavy snow continuing 2-3cm now. V happy as thought this would only be a dusting for us Cheshire folk. IMG_3397.MOV
  15. Moderate snow S Cheshire, 70m asl - everything turning white again still a few hours of it left to come too!
  16. Light snow but intensity will need to pick up which it looks like it will from the east in the next hour for us to see a dusting- a covering.
  17. Snizzle/ light snow has arrived in S Cheshire. Sky looks heavy with snow.
  18. I’m guessing a sleet/ wet snow mix that may well stick in the heavier bursts for us Cheshire/ Wirral & Merseyside lot much less marginal further east up towards the peaks. Just hope it reaches us now!
  19. Met Office don’t have the main band coming through till around 8-10am (later than initially forecast) for the majority - there will be some marginality a mix of sleet & wet snow I’m sure particularly close to the coast if it reaches there but the heavy snow graphics are up at least. Hope we all get a covering!
  20. Good stuff the Cat & Fiddle road from Macclesfield up to you in Buxton might be tricky by the morning then
  21. We’ll see I suppose think tonight might be more of a peaks and Pennines event sinking south into the Midlands. What do you see South Cheshire’s chances being like tonight @Kasim Awan ? Will we see a top up of the snow a lot of us saw last night?
  22. One to watch is this feature tonight - could well be a repeat performance for some to the south and east of the region.
  23. Sounds like a mini UHI effect for sure - Manchester City centre is similar although Jan 5th 2010 was an exception.
