  1. Tomorrow looks peak of the heat probably getting to around 28/29c for you in East Lancs and then gradually fresher from Thursday.
  2. Swelteringly hot afternoon we’ve hit 30.5c here in S Cheshire. Not looking great for storms tonight but tomorrow evening/ night may well hold more promise ⛈
  3. Some brief storms down in S Cheshire last night more like heavy showers to be honest. Hot & Humid with hazy sunshine today at 28c. Looking even hotter tomorrow 29-32c with feel like temperatures with humidity in the mid- high 30’s! Could well beat the summer high of 31c recorded on July 31st down here! Quite impressive for this part of the world
  4. Heavy rain and a few distant rumbles of thunder ⛈ here in Cheshire.
  5. Lovely afternoon here in S Cheshire making the most of what will probably be the best day of the week - hazy sunshine and a humid 26c
  6. Another fairly meh day here in S Cheshire characteristic of the dry days this summer to be honest some warm sunny spells but largely a lot of cloud. Feeling muggy but not overly humid with hazy sunshine into this evening. Came out at 25-26c around 3pm. Good enough weather though for garden cocktails & a BBQ We might not have the tropical heat of down south but the NW/ W Midlands might well be in the sweet spot for any storms early-mid week! ⛈
  7. Reached 29c! Doubt we’ll reach 30c this late in the day though.
  8. Reached 27c now the sun has finally broken through here in S Cheshire. Not as warm as last Friday where we managed 30c here.
  9. 24c & muggy here in Sandbach alternating between cloud and hazy sunshine. As others have mentioned cloud has been such an issue in these parts this summer even during the brief ‘hot’ spells. Summer 2013/ Summer 2018 were memorable as although perhaps not as hot we went several weeks with largely unbroken sunshine and temperatures into the high 20s/ occasionally low 30s. Duration and widespread sunshine and high temperatures rather than local extremes of heat make a true UK heatwave imo.
  10. Knowing our luck they’ll get a Feb 1991 repeat ️ whilst we get some passing sleet showers on the breeze
  11. It’s the humidity that makes it worse by far. 31/32c last Friday felt relatively pleasant with low humidity this week will be different it’ll feel closer to 35c.
  12. This summer in the NW has been rather meh whilst as yet not as wet as last year and offering some good storms in June and the odd very warm day here and there it’s been a rather mediocre affair. Things are hotting up the end of this week though and whilst we won’t see the extreme heat of London & the SE with 26-29c widely and 30c probably being reached across Greater Manchester & Cheshire on Friday it’s going to feel a hot & humid one. Weekend less hot but pleasantly warm temperatures in the low-mid 20s where the sun comes out before perhaps turning very warm-hot once again with high humidity and thunderstorm potential to keep us interested into next week. Probably the most interesting spell of a rather Vanilla Summer to come even for our part of the world! ⛈
  13. Yep humid & wet (not a nice mix) with fingers crossed the potential for storms. Nothing nailed on yet though and it could well be the case of heavy potentially thundery showers rather than the mass of rain the GFS is currently showing.
  14. Well depends on what you call a downgrade. Friday looks like the peak of the heat currently with 27-31c likely quite widely breaking down into storm chances for the weekend that will hold back temperatures somewhat but with high humidity will probably feel still very warm with temperatures varying between the mid- high 20s for the majority into the following week but yes not the extreme heat of London & the SE. Nights are going to be uncomfortable for all but unbearable down there with high humidity so a blessing rather than a curse perhaps.
  15. Still pushing 30-31c across the south of the region into next weekend mid- high 20s across Lancs/ Cumbria and will feel more humid than yesterday was too it’s been a very long time since we’ve seen a decent August hopefully some thunderstorms thrown in as well! ?
  16. Up to 32c here in S Cheshire sunshine going hazy but have missed the showers as yet. Would have preferred a week long spell of 25-27c temperatures but beggars can’t be choosers this summer.
  17. Here’s hoping it gets to you. It was a cracker loudest thunder in over 5 years here ⛈⛈
  18. Torrential rain flash flooding and thunder now ⛈⛈ (Sandbach, S Cheshire)
  19. Low rumbles of thunder to the south of us here in South Cheshire looks nasty over Shropshire/ Stoke and North Staffs again looks like it’s all moving north ⛈
  20. Looks like it although Cheshire/ Greater Manchester looking like getting the best of it. Stoke got a direct hit. Thunder & Lightning now ramping up big time.
  21. Biblical rain and frequent lightning ⛈ here in South Cheshire - rainfall is insane!
  22. Mental storm here haven’t seen one as severe at night in many a year. Torrential rain and frequent lightning ⛈ 3rd storm in just a few days!
  23. Just had a brief heavy wet snow shower. 2nd day of falling snow this pants winter
  24. Hopefully in with a chance of something then - maybe something similar to the late January event last year where heavy early morning snow showers gave a brief 2-3cm covering here that was gone by lunchtime.
  25. Really don’t know whether the overnight wintry mix will even reach as far north as here and I’m in the far south east of the region. Those of us South of Manchester may see something sleet/snow wise but really won’t be surprised if it’s a non event. Midlands high ground looks best placed to see some transient sleet/snow but we shall see I suppose!
