  1. It’s so bizarre - Crewe’s mini urban heat island effect maybe who knows lol - don’t think this will be our last chance for snow this winter though fingers crossed!
  2. Jeez everything looks soaking - friend in Haslington has a dusting so might be your town location. It’s crazy but seems to make all the difference in these scenarios.
  3. It’s very strange - I’ve had not as much as others are getting but even here in Sandbach we’ve got about 2-3cm and still coming down. Here’s hoping you see something at least.
  4. Crewe and Nantwich have a microclimate I think they often seem to get less snow than everywhere surrounding in these sort of marginal situations.
  5. I’ve got about a 1-2cm covering down the road from you Crewe in Sandbach. Still coming down. Crewe town is rubbish for snow sticking in marginal situations though hope you at least get a dusting.
  6. Heavy wet snow just beginning to stick here too. Nice to see
  7. Sleety drizzle currently problem is any snow that does fall from this front will be falling onto wet ground so will need to be heavy enough to give a dusting. Nice to see some of us getting snow though
  8. Well if it was a band of rain I’m sure it would have hit us snow starved North West folk! We’ll see I suppose might get dribs and drabs of the main band in the early hours just a dusting would be nice to wake up to. January is looking interesting but more runs needed and definitely not to the extent of the ‘Thames is going to freeze over’ brigade in the mad thread lol!
  9. Looks like it although south of the region hopefully getting in on the action too.
  10. Northern Ireland including Belfast now reporting heavy accumulating snow from the frontal band - a good sign for sure... fingers crossed some of it makes it to us!
  11. Been a lovely winter morning south of Manchester this morning after Bella moved through last night chilly walking the dog but not too cold. Think we all stand a chance of seeing some falling snow tonight whether it materialises into a covering or not is yet to be seen. At best we could see a Boxing Day 2014 style event at worst a slushy rainy mess or even nothing at all. No big freeze but a cold week to come though - the coldest start to January since probably 2010 and with that the potential for some surprise snowfalls too. I’m sure many will be up late radar and maybe lamppost watching tonight!
  12. May well be being a touch pessimistic but whilst we are now looking at a decent cold spell with frost and the chance of snow (some surprise falls too I bet looking at what’s happened over in the NE this morning) we aren’t despite all the ramping from some looking at a big freeze just yet but like Dec 2017 it may well prove to be starter before the main course and a main course delivered in the mid winter too - here’s hoping anyway! Happy Xmas and chart/ lamppost watching to all!
  13. I’m hopeful for cold prospects post Xmas and I think we definitely stand a good chance of a cold spell during January but those in the model thread seem to be chasing the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow at the moment. Fingers crossed but caution required.
  14. A great event that really topped off Dec 2010 - it pelted it down and we ended up with around 15cm from that event that locally was better than even the 4th/5th Jan event of the same year where South Cheshire missed out on the higher snow totals further north towards Manchester - we got about 5-10cm where as as close as Macclesfield got close to a ft of snow! ️ Here’s hoping for at least some significant snow this year.
  15. Happy to be looking at a seasonal Xmas this year but it’s funny how here in the UK we all are excitedly chasing a few frosts, 3-5c and the chance of a wintry shower whilst Georgia to New York in the US are looking at blizzards of up to 1-2ft of snow in the next 24 hours! Oh how I would love to live somewhere with a continental climate! ️
  16. Heavy Rain most of the day that’s turned torrential at times in the past hour here in S Cheshire. Vile day
  17. Yeah there were a few near us too. Reports of severe flooding Delamere Forest/ Northwich way - pubs have had to close early. Not surprised though as that way has been sat under the storm for well over an hour now.
  18. Still no rain here in Sandbach v dark with a couple of flashes of lightning and low rumbling thunder. Just seen 3 fire engines shoot past going Middlewich/ Northwich way don’t know if related as there were lots of lightning strike house fires across Cheshire last night.
  19. Very dark to my west towards the Northwich storm ⛈ can hear low rumbling thunder and the wind is picking up. No rain as yet though in Sandbach.
  20. A hot humid 31c and hazy sunshine here in S Cheshire after last nights epic storms. Hottest day of the year here beating yesterday’s 30c and July 31st’s 30.5c Very rare to get the hottest day of summer in August in recent years usually its mid-late July.
  21. Sandbach. Torrential rain again shotgun thunder what a storm! ⛈?
  22. Fork Lightning ? Going to try and get some pics! ⛈ An amazing storm better than the June ones here anyway.
