  1. Ditto that! What do you think of South Essex, maybe even further north? Looks to me like it'll swing round and give Essex some decent lovin?
  2. Now, I'm just taking a punt here, so anyone knowledgeable please correct me, but to me, its looking like this could turn into a half decent event for a large part of east anglia (assuming it doesnt all die off before it gets there)
  3. I know, looking like we "could" be right in the middle of it if it passes this way......and assuming there's any PPN left of course lol
  4. I was just about to post the same. Looks to have sped up a tad too, so it should be on its way properly through kent within the next hour (going by the radar anyway lol)
  5. I wanna know too lol. To my completely untrained eye, the blob looks like it could head our way over south essex, but worried the temp will go too high....fingers crossed though
  6. I was just thinking the same. It was 0c and -2dp half an hour ago in southend, so unless it rapidly warms (and knowing our luck it could haha) then we should be good for at least some snow!
  7. As much as I would happily blame the downfall of society on the worrying explosion of demented, left wing snowflakes, I cant however see how they're to blame for the weather lol. The point IS, and STILL is, winter isnt over yet, so no one can say they are right or wrong until the Spring. Yes its been a poor winter for cold, but certainly not up there with the worst by any stretch (unless we get a heatwave in Feb)
  8. Yep, for something so light and pathetic, its so satisfying haha
  9. Well looking at the radar, the SE wind is turning the rain to sleet (very light, but I assume its a cooling wind), so it might even help us? (I admit thats a very optimistic view though lol) I guess we'll know within the hour
  10. Looking at the radar, we're getting a bit of that cooler air from across the pond. Would be nice if it links up and turns the whole SE into falling snow, but thats just me wishful thinking, probably be too slow to get here
  11. Sorry, but this place used to be fun. Why are people digging at others who have a go at forecasting the weather (for free), when the reality is the weather will do what it wants. Gets on my wick that people these days are always looking for someone else to blame for anything! You either learn to read weather charts and make your own predictions, or just live with the fact that sometimes things dont always happen the way you want....and if you really must blame someone, blame the forecaster's who are paid for by most of us! Anyway, light drizzle here at the moment. Fingers crossed the snow band keeps increasing so us in the far East might get a cm lol
  12. The addition of "often" likely, can't decide if that's better or worse haha, but still all very good, so fingers crossed!
  13. So basically this winter has been impossible to predict by any model or method, so a bit harsh to keep stomping on the background signals just because people have wrongly assumed that it guarantees a 1963 winter lol
  14. Dont know what everyone's expectation was, but all I ever saw was there being a good chance of prolonged deep cold this winter, and that was perfectly accurate. Yes it hasn't happened, but no one said it would definitely happen....key word "chance". So if you were expecting a guaranteed cold period, then more fool you lol. This is more a general point, but there does seem to be a growing trend in the forum now to blame anyone who made a prediction about any cold snap, as if its their fault and they're stupid. I'm sure its quite common here given the types of characters that frequent the place, but even still lol
  15. As with nearly ALL models from day 2 or 3 onwards really, so you cant take them as gospel whatever side of the camp you're on
  16. Who knew weather forecasting could be so vindictive eh?
  17. .......nothing in the publicly available models maybe......oh, and most of those publicly available models dont go that far lol
  18. There's going to be at least a foot of snow in most places in the South East on Tuesday......there's agreement between the models on that!! (Oh thats right, thats a completely false comment too lol, funny that haha)
  19. Is that the same models that have trended colder for most of the winter haha?
  20. Unlucky for you, but most people can only read the summary, which merely suggests "might". Although technically this is the wrong thread anyway lol
  21. I knew I should of worded that better, so my fault really, but I kinda clumped it all in with what is currently forecast for the deep cold to hit USA, if it hasnt already.
  22. I wouldn't normally comment, mostly as my opinion means far less than the more knowledgeable people here, but I've noticed this soooo much on here. People say "It'll be a boring winter as normal bla bla bla", and then sometime in the future they'll appear and say "I told you so...neerrrr".....but all they're doing is playing the odds.
  23. Sorry, but that doesnt really make much sense. The reliable time frame is basically day 10 at a push, but at the moment realistically a lot less than that. Surely background signals are exactly as they are worded....signals, which is effectively more "pro cold" forcings, or more tickets to a lottery etc etc. I dont recall anyone with any knowledge saying the cold WILL happen, it just gives us more chance at cold, I just dont know how many times that has to be explained to people. (this bit wasnt directly aimed at you by the way) Once the cold is in the reliable, then the background signals are of no use as the cold would be happening, but they become useful in predicting future cold. Quite a few parts of Europe have done very well for cold, USA exceptionally so. Whether these events are related to all or some of the background signals or not, I wouldnt know, but they've certainly done alright if you like cold weather. IF this winter doesnt deliver anything noteworthy, then its more just down to bad luck than anything. But that is no reason to belittle or ignore any background signals surely?
  24. Firstly you haven't been proven right about anything yet, although you still could be, but best to wait until winter is actually over lol. Also, 2018 summer was great, I would definitely want a repeat of that, longest settled warm period for a long time!
