Can hear the rumbles now the rain is here, not overly active but better than nothing I suppose, it's so weird that all the heatwaves that fizzle out producing nothing yet today was just an averagely warm day and we get storms

Nice day today in the sun! I see regional reservoir levels still on a decline and almost at 50% a drop of 3% from last week

Gardens getting a decent shower right now

What is the cause for no storms, that's 2 heatwaves in a row now that haven't produced, I'm thankful for the rain though it's much needed even if it's miserable

Another heatwave to fizzle out without a bang, can feel the much more pleasant cooler air filtering in now along with the clouds

Another lovely day, breeze feels like a hairdryer though

Below 50% for our nearby reservoirs on the Pennines. I think if we will have a hosepipe ban soon enough should we get another dry spell. If I'm not mistaken the Liverpool area gets their water from Lake Vrynwy in Wales and about three quarters of Greater Manchester gets it from the Lake District, those areas aren't too terrible at the minute and more than half full. The rest of us in the far eastern part of the city gets it from Pennine reservoirs which are evidently running low. You can see for yourself when you drive there as I have family that live in Saddleworth and visually when you look at them you can tell they are more than half empty.
Yep it's Vrynwy and Celyn via the Dee for Liverpool, gets pumped to Prescott with a filter site in Owestry for the Vrnwy pipe or at least the youtube vids I've been watching on their construction says that's how they work (shame we had to drown some villages particularly in Celyn)

Looks like the rain hasn't made a difference all down a few %

I wonder what the levels will be when updated tomorrow
Hopefully the recent rain will have given some top up to the reservoirs, otherwise I wonder if we'll be seeing hosepipe bans soon if it stays dry for another prolonged period

Much needed rain even if it's miserable, some heavy rain about 7pm

Mostly cloudy today, still fairly warm though, really need some rain though everything bone dry and greenery is starting to fade to Autumn colours

Is it just selective memory that periods of good heat used to go out with a bang or is it genuinely a new phenomena for us as part of the changing climate, definitely feels like storms were more frequent in the 80's,90's and 00's but I wonder if that's my selective memory because I love storms

Sun's back out again now to end the day nicely with more suitable temps for the time of day, as nice as the extreme heat is, I wouldn't want it for a long period, not unless the nights were chilled

Nothing for the West it seems even if local records were broken

Don't think we'll see any storms looking at the radar, might get a light drizzle

Yikes, down to 28.6 now with the wind really picking up

37.1 here and climbing

Cloud lifted, sun feels lovely currently at 36.4 probably a record for my locale

Slowly edging up, 33.5 at the moment up 2.3 in an hour, will probably peak just over 35 I'd imagine before the front arrives, so slightly hotter than yesterday but not by much

Some pretty nice sounding cracks of thunder but it's too infrequent to be window watching waiting for the flash
