  1. I'm in NE Hants...had fog all morning and it cleared about 2hrs ago so we currently have sun. I was hoping the fog would stay here too and keep the temps down a bit.
  2. I am smugly smiling to myself having read some posts on a local FB group page that said the cold and snow is never going to happen because the sun is out today
  3. I'm just down the road in Fleet and am pretty sure we'll see something of the snow in the next few days: plenty of opportunities!
  4. Well fingers crossed for you that weather magic happens. And if not, you get to be a figure of envy in the summer heatwaves!
  5. Was out walking the dogs earlier and so foggy and still. Nearly 2hrs later and it's still the same. It's quite eerie; is this the calm before the storm?
  6. I managed 1 and a 1/2 . Absolutely as described by others, like a kid at Christmas!
  7. It is addictive isn't it! Snow, storms and extreme heat, they all need chasing
  8. My husband just arrived home after a nightshift. Asked me if the weather has upgraded, downgraded, outgraded or sidegraded. At least he's trying to show an interest!
  9. Am I reading those right that a snow band could move through on Sat before the main event? (i.e. snow - rain - snow. )
  10. Well a beautifully cold and foggy morning as a precursor for (hopefully) some snowy times ahead. Have been checking temps since before sunrise and delighted to see that temp and dp have dropped in the past couple of hours: T -0.2°C / DP -0.3°C
  11. Great stuff! Hopefully in the firing line again. As an aside, I recall actually getting snow from a Cheshire gap streamer - can't recall which year but it goes to show they can certainly travel if the conditions are right.
  12. Here in Fleet NE Hants a Thames streamer can give us a good snowfall too.
  13. Something I remember while awaiting the BFTE is noticing the clouds skitting east to west, perfect little white balls of popcorn clouds hurrying across the blue skies. Is this something I am likely to see again with these easterlies? (Fleet. NE Hants)
  14. Some great UKMO and GFS runs this morning: things looking more positive for southern cold fans ❄
  15. Thanks for this great explainer, really useful. Can anyone point me to some learning material about 'ops', 'dets', 'means' and 'ensembles'? I just can't seem to grasp the differences. Thank you.
  16. Well this was 2 years ago today in Fleet - had about 11hrs of snowfall. Juat hoping some of todays charts are actually on the money for next weekend. 20190201_175245.mp4
  17. I experienced that weather: was going to Holland for New Year and the motorway drive was terrifying! Even had a coach SLIDE past us at a near miss distance . It was bloody freezing in Holland - got down to -16. And just my luck I came down with flu (the proper can't move type). Was in bed for the whole visit - with ice forming on the inside of the bedroom window -and missed out on the ice skating on the lake too!
  18. Sleety cold stuff in Fleet. OH just messaged to say light snow in Basingstoke.
  19. I might be alone in this ( and undoubtedly fortunate that it cause few problems in my locality) but I love the sound of heavy rain beating down. In fact I love any weather that actually does something . My pet hate is 'no weather' days - sort of mild, meh, windless, sunless, rainless, greyish days.
  20. Beautiful. Nearly 2hrs of snow and still coming down. (Fleet, NE Hants). 20210124_090547.mp4 20210124_090547.mp4
