  1. I too booked the day off work to experience the eclipse.. think it was predicted 97% darkness at its height. I remember watching the eclipse live on BBC1 and running to the garden at regular intervals and sticking on a pair of special glasses to stare at the sun!At the peek of the eclipse, I remember it turning very chilly and the birds stopped tweeting. I also remember feeling very disapointed it didnt go as dark as I expected for some reason?!
  2. Morning all, Very nippy on my walk to work this morning from Waterloo East Stn - so much so that I am going to pop out shopping tonight to get myself a cardie to wear in the mornings. This of course guarentees a late summer heat wave for the rest of August Lovely reading the reports last night - I must confess I forgot all about the meteor display and was sound asleep by 11pm! Have a lovely day everyone
  3. Did you manage to sort out her bridesmaid dress ok in the end Jan?Sun is breaking through the clouds here now, so hopefully it will melt more clouds away as the afternoon goes on!
  4. First time I have properly noticed the evenings are drawing in now was last night - it was getting pretty dusky just before 8pm. Personally, I do love it when the nights start drawing in as I know my favourite time of the year is on it's way. I just love Autumn and the start of winter (although by the middle-late Feb I am willing for spring). I just love knowing that my birthday is coming up (although less so the older I am getting!), Guy Fawlks Night is on it's way, Christmas, my daughters Birthday and most importantly of all, the prospect of snow! There's no point in arguing over peoples preferences and stating that you find it weird because someone doesn't agree with your personal preference (which on occassion comes out quite strongly in this thread) - I just don't get why we all just can't accept that we are all different and all have different tastes!
  5. Damn, that's a shame Robin. I'm going out for a Sunday Roast on Sunday (funny enough!) with the family and the pub we are going to has a lovely garden outside with a stream running through it. Was hoping to sit outside and enjoy some sunshine
  6. I find a good sprinkle with salt normally does the trick - they won't come back in a hurry then Sun is out now at London Southbank - also not much longer and it will soon be hometime and the weekend
  7. Morning all, The rain woke me up around 5.45am this morning - which is probably just as well as I discovered I had forgot to set the alarm to get up for work last night! Cloudy currently - but not feeling cold at all.
  8. Evening all, No problems with wasps so far this year - barely seen one! (can now guarentee a train carriage tomorrow trapped with one!) Jan, good to see you back posting as I was going to PM you to check you were ok x
  9. Yep, I echo the above - lovely morning here, clear blue skies and sunshine!
  10. True, this is the first opportunity I've had to post today during my lunch break - unlike some who post most the day in the Lounge area
  11. *sweeps away the tumble weed* Blimey, it's a bit quiet in here today - I can only guess everyone is out enjoying a much nicer period of weather now we don't have that humid heat anymore... Partly cloudy here on London Southbank - temperature around 20c. Lover-ly!
  12. Just started to rain here at London Southbank - come over quite dark too. Might have to put the office lights on in a mo!
  13. Finally, the sun has come out in Londinium Town. (well, the Southbank bit anyway!)
  14. Afternoon all, A very pleasant day here weather wise - sunny (with a few clouds), and a current temperature of 23c. In the words of Pop Larkin - perfick!
  15. Brightning up here at London Southbank - quite disapointed with the storm action since getting to work. Am hoping this afternoon delivers more storms - especially for those that have missed out the first time round this morning!
  16. Apart from a couple of distant rumbles here at work about 30 minutes ago, there has been nothing since. Why oh why can't it be this time last week when I had annual leave and would have been at home enjoying the storms over there. Bloody sods law!
  17. Don't you just love it when the METO take down their weather warnings? Guarantees exciting weather, be it snow or storms
  18. I've arrived at work now (London Southbank) and although the roads and pavements were wet, there were no rumbles of thunder. Am so gutted I had to leave for work with that one rumbling over head at home It is very dark here at work though, so fingers crossed...!
  19. The heavens opened during my walk to the station and saw fork lightning (only the once) Am on the train to work now - really gutted waving goodbye to the storm where I live *sob*. Hope London has one rumbling overhead when I get there!
  20. I can hear distant rumbles of thunder - wasnt expecting that so early this morning!
  21. I'm well jel at those temperatures - I'm about to loose the skin off my thighs getting up off the leather sofa to go to bed!And why does the co-op advert have wintery songs plugging its over priced products? What I would do for blizzards right now!
  22. Yep, can't say I'm expecting a good nights sleep - currently 28c on the house thermometer!
