  1. I'm not sure if it's planes taking off and landing or not yet, but I *think* I have heard around 3 very far away rumbles of thunder - could be wrong though!
  2. Sun's come out here at London Southbank - although only 29c in the office - so a tad cooler than it has been
  3. My gawd, it's boiling in my office today! In the past few weeks I have escaped to the office with no windows (but air conditioning!) for the afternoon, however, with the prospects later this afternoon, I am going to risk it and boil in the hope of seeing more storms (greedy, moi?) I must say though, after last nights lack of sleep, it's starting to catch up with me at my desk - I think I will resemble something (more than usual) from 'Night of the living dead' by home time
  4. Are there any more storms due today? Not that I'm greedy or anything...!
  5. Just got on my late running train - I can't believe how humid it still is out there!
  6. First storm was around 1.30am - never quite got close enough. 2nd storm (well, one that woke me up) around 4.15am - best we have had for a long time. 3rd storm is happening right now - it's reminding me of a day back in the early 90's where we just seemed to have storm after storm after storm!
  7. Currently boiling in bed on my mobile, being attacked by moths attracted to the light! I see storms are popping up closer to home and for some reason I feel like a scared 8 year old again! I might just pop the bathroom light on for comfort!
  8. I have everything crossed that we don't miss out on any storm action (bar Tamara, Tom & Jan!) But I just can't quite build my hopes up - even in this set up - due to being disapointed so, so many times before. Just got to pray to the weather Gods that the radar cracks into life and any storms head this way!
  9. Phew, so there is a bit of hope - don't think I could bare the thought of living through this heat if it didn't go off bang as a reward for putting up with it!
  10. Afternoon all, Hope you have all had lovely weekends. We went to Dover this afternoon - We haven't been there before so wasn't sure what to expect. We didn't have enough time to visit the castle (we plan on doing that very soon) but we did take a walk around the White Cliffs of Dover. There were a few moments up there where I felt the need to fling myself to the ground in fear (it was quite windy and I hated being too close to the edge!) But all in all, we had a lovely afternoon. Here's some pics taken on my mobile, so the quality is a bit rubbish.
  11. Afternoon all, Not really much to report here with regards to the weather - still hot. I must say, I was looking at the River Thames at lunch and thinking a swim in there was looking ever more appealing as the days of the heatwave go on Am looking forward to a couple of days respite this weekend with cooler temperates and hopefully a thundery break down next week (sorry Jan, Tamara and Tom!)
  12. Morning all, Feeling hot still in my office, however, there does seem to be more of a breeze out there today which is very welcome! Here's hoping for a proper thundery breakdown next week 1980's style!
  13. Just seen this on the BBC website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-19319499 Some useful tips and ideas for those of us struggling to get a good nights kip in this heat!
  14. Just come back from lunch (sat outside in the shade) and I must say, the humidity isn't as bad as I thought it was - there is even a bit of a breeze to help keep things more pleasant. It's amazing what working in an air conditioned office has done - the first day of this heatwave I am actually enjoying!
  15. But they just aren't the same without the added E numbers we had back in the day...! Lovely weather again today (all be it a few degrees higher than I am comfortable with) But on the plus side, I am working in an office with air conditioning today which is a bonus! Hoping for some storms later today - even if there is only a small chance of any developing.
  16. Temperature has really shot up in the office now - it's official - I'm melting!
  17. Am at work, blinds pulled down to keep the sun from streaming in the office, and I must say, it's not as hot (yet!) as I was expecting it to be in here. Still not looking forward to the train journey home though! Loving the pictures of the sunsets - really beautiful!
  18. Moth's around a light is, in our neighbourhood, teenagers swarming around a light outside an off licence once the sun has set... a whole new meaning to lamp posts in Bexleyheath!
  19. Evening all, I'm with Jan on the too hot front - yesterday and today is far too hot for me, and I am NOT looking forward to having to go to work tomorrow onwards... Why oh why can't our office, built in the 1870's have air conditioning and not 140 years worth of paint gluing the windows shut? (mind you, I did use to work at the original Guy's Hospital building, finished in the early 1700's, so you would think I was used to the heat..) As for South Eastern Train's - fully expecting the heating to be blowing out at full blast in the morning. Makes me wonder why I pay £1,800 to go 8 stops to get to work.... God, I am in a grumpy mood. Just call me Victoria Meldrew.
