  1. Blimey, you lot can waffle on... not had the chance to take time to read this thread since lunchtime - never expected 9 pages of weather discussion about a dull, chilly, cloudy March day... Very disappointed I missed a general discussion about John Hammond though - you do all know he only winks in my direction at the end of his forecasts
  2. I used to have a terrible phobia of storms when I was a child (mind you, back in the 1980's/1990's the storms did seem more violent and seem to last for hours, unlike now days) to the point where I had to sleep in my parents bed or have my mum looking after me while I was sick with fear! That said, I do still have that initial heart stopping fearful moment when I first see lightning during the night and I do run over to the light switch and put it on (much to Mr Raven's annoyance ) - old habits die hard!
  3. Walking home from work last week in the rain, I was taken aback when I heard a couple of women talking about the weather, and one of them said 'oh well, we need the rain' I think she must have short term memory loss - or has dealt with one of the wettest summers on record by putting it to the back of her mind!
  4. Same here - had enough of the cold - bring on warm sunshine and the hope for a decent storm or 10!
  5. brief snow shower here - looking at the clouds, they look quite convective (is that the word?!) - almost could produce a heavy burst with a rumble or two of thunder?
  6. Yep, they are rife here in Bexley. Never forgot the first time I saw them - I thought they were a flock of parrots (anything is possible here!)
  7. Wow, just properly catching up with the posts over night and this morning. The pictures of the snow some of us in this region have received are brilliant! Only got the lightest of dustings (grass, cracks of pavement etc) over night in Bexleyheath, so unfortunately I've made it into work today
  8. Oh I don't know Steve - woke up to about 1mm in my back garden and about the same amount in the cracks on the pavement !
  9. Naff all here Tom... Does anyone know if there is any chance of winds changing direction to favour a Thames streamer? Think thats my only hope tonight
  10. Gutting isn't it! I'd settle for a light dusting where everything turns white at this rate!
  11. Just looked at the radar, zoomed in on my postcode (DA7) and it looks like the snow is about 2 miles south of me - I hope it pushes north a tad!
  12. Am looking forward to some lamp post watching after dark - hopefully we will get some blizzard like conditions like we had earlier, bringing back memories of lamp post watching during the Feb 1991 event (the first time I remember using a lamp post light to see the snow at night!)
  13. Had some very heavy bursts of snow here in Bexleyheath - almost blizzard like conditions in the wind. Not actually making much of an impact of settling - are dew points too high?
  14. Why not comment on it though John? There are many of us that don't actually understand the charts, and would welcome some explanation.
  15. If that low could move a tad more north, that would make me feel a little less edgy...
