Very misty in good ol' London town this morning. I work opposite the Houses of Parliament and it's not often I can only see the bottom third of Big Ben from just across the Thames. It's not a day you would want to have purchased pre-booked tickets to the top of the Shard!- 834 replies

South East and East Anglia Regional Discussion 4th March 2013

After a mainly sunny day yesterday, and clear blue skies from my office window this morning at work so far, I could almost be mistaking Spring having sprung... It's amazing what a bit of sunshine can do to lift the mood. If it is going to get colder next week, let's hope it isn't a dull, cold, cloudy (and mainly snowless one) like the last one Happy Birthday bjaykent - and thank you for the virtual cake- 834 replies

I too am looking forward to spring. Really can't wait to get out in the garden in some warm sunshine and start bedding plants and making it all look lovely and colourful out there again Although not looking forward to nagging Mr Raven to cut the grass- 742 replies

Still cold out, but feeling warmer than it has been the past few days. If only the slate grey cloud would lift and we could all enjoy some sunshine!- 742 replies

To be fair, you didn't see the original posts from the member as they were removed. I was in no way saying that I think all northerners are lazy council housing owners that don't pay tax - far from it! I am sorry if it came across that way. Naff all snow for me last night - very cold though!

You know, I had forgotten how small 4" was (and no kentimetre jokes please...!) As for the weather - it's dark and cold - roll on spring!

It's probably being paid by the tax payers. So, so sad that plebs like that feel the need to come in here and boast about how many inches they have. I can only assume he has accidently found the wrong website for things like that

JP1972 - surely you have more better things to do - like playing in your snow?

I would never say I miss a good hot spell of 30 degrees - times that by about 5 and you have the temperature for my office - and times that again by 5, that's the temperature of a train carriage courtesy to South Eastern Trains But in all seriousness, if suffering 2 weeks of 90+ degrees guaranteed a humdinger of a decent thunderstorm at the end of it, I would suffer for the cause....!

That will be because the French imported storms die off when crossing the channel for the past 5/6 odd years... Living in this part of the UK, it seems we can't have the best of both worlds. Lack of snow in winter guaranteed us decent summer storms (and when I say storm, I am talking more than 2 flashes and bangs) When we have more snowy winters, the storm prospect vanishes. I never in a million years post 1991 thought I would utter these words, but...................................... I would give up 1 winter of ever seeing 1 flake of snow if it brought us 1 summer of imported thunderstorms from France from years gone by... Edit - not sure why the first half of this post has gone all italic

Is there a chance that the winds will change back to ENE direction at any point this evening/weekend? Or am I waving goodbye to the predicted 1ft of snow from a Thames streamer?

Just sitting here at work staring out the window, willing myself to see snow - and I have spotted 3 snow flakes so far - honestly, you couldn't make it up. Good to read that it's snowing back home though!

LOL, I had issues when I reached 413 as I have a thing about the number 13 - I managed to talk myself out of thinking anything bad would happen to me. Steve, you can see how many likes you have by looking on your profile

I think that sums up my experience of this Winter so far... slow to accumulate, quick to thaw!
