I really hope not, summer 2018 was fantastic and I would love to see it again (minus the really humid days). 2007 was bad enough and that wasn't even particularly cool. God knows how awful the summer of 1879 felt.
I actually didn't mind it at first due to the relatively low humidity, but after a while it just got too unbearable.

If there is any justice in this world winter will be over shortly and us lesser mortals can gird our loins ready for the awakening of Spring. Hallelujah, Praise the Lord.
I hope to God this big freeze starts at the end of January and doesn't let up until at least early May!

If this upcoming "cold spell" fails to deliver then I think it's fair to say that this winter will go down as the winter that promised so much but delivered so little.

Oh definitely ! Wales doesn't exist on the mad thread , I think it's hilarious personally no disrespect but it's typical of the English !
You wanna be careful, if one of them sees your post they might get offended and report you It's all rather silly if you ask me, It's the same for Northern Ireland and Scotland as well they rarely get mentioned either!

I'm not sure why this post got removed from the mod thread, I bet if it was showing for somewhere in England it would still be there. Anyway looking good indeed we also have andymusic back posting again so you know something's brewing!

Things are getting interesting and again don’t believe the tripe in the Model thread against NWstlies! There is a huge East bias there! NWstly always fare well in Wales even in coastal areas like Swansea! I’ve seen heavy snow from a North Westerly with -3 upper air temps!!
Sadly Wales hardly ever gets a mention in the mod thread, but I agree we always do well from a north westerly they normally always deliver the goods.

The met office 10 day trend looks interesting

Ditto
It just goes to show that being south of the M4 doesn't always matter as long as the conditions are right, the only times when it does is when we get a slider or battleground event. @Don Did you get much snow last March?

or as happened last march your be fine if your house was 50 miles west
March delivered for me twice so I can't complain.

not a good update for us in the South, any snow would be short lived if the milder air breaks through at times like they suggest ,still too far out to be certain of the outcome as that climatologist on their you tube channel was keen to point out yesterday.
You'll be fine... if you live north of the M4

Neither of which brought any significant snowfall to my locations in Lakeland and (briefly) North Devon!
8 foot drifts here in the south Wales valleys, though I was smack bang in the middle of the red warning! Btw I've had 2 red warnings for snow in the last 5 years and guess what? They both happened not long after a SSW! January 2013 and march this year.

Any talks of SSW is simply ramping to keep coldies enthused.
I bet you thought the same in February before we had the beast from the east and the mini beast.

Can spring please start in March next year? Was fed up of the cold and snow this year and wanted something a bit warmer after such a long winter.
Hopefully it stays cold up until may.

My uncle says most winters and Christmas periods post 1970 until 1987, were mild.
The only times Christmas was cold and snowy were 70, 76, 78, and 81.
Winter 78/79, 81/82, and those mid 80s winters were cold. The rest were mostly mild or very mild.
So much for rose tinted glasses lol
Winter 1984-85 was cold, winter 1985-86 was also a decent winter. February 1986 had a CET of -1.1c

Exactly issue a weather warning for conditions that are not unusual for June here
You know what it's like here though, it only takes a couple of snowflakes to fall and everything grinds to a halt

Seems strange that they're only now naming it, has it deepened more than expected in the past few hours?
