  1. Yeah it’s merely been dull but dry here for most of August, so I can’t tell you my relief that finally it’s now dull and wet. Where’s my passport?
  2. I’m so pleased for you. Here in Lincs we’re into our 248th day of grey and 17 degrees. Ooooh I must go, the sun just came out.
  3. Beautiful day here, albeit with a stiff breeze that wasn’t very pleasant to cycle into. Have to say the radar says that London and surrounding area haven’t had a pleasant time, seems a low has been permanently situated in the Channel.
  4. Despite the forecast, stayed dry here all today. Looking like rain at Trent Bridge now though. Weather in Notts usually reaches here within the hour.
  5. Lovely summer’s day here, just the evening for a beer garden but I’m self isolating . I love this weather but people in the mod thread hankering after 30 degrees are insane in my humble opinion.
  6. Have you ever thought about a job with the Samaritans? I like the way the ECM pans out.
  7. Thanks for the answers, very interesting. The heat in Canada in particular is very alarming, as has been pointed out, records are being smashed. We all moan about our mild climate in the UK, but sometimes you’ve got to count your blessings.
  8. Just reading about the ‘heat dome’ affecting the NW USA/Canada. a) It sounds horrendous. And I like heat. b) is there any reason it could/couldn’t happen in the UK/NW Europe? We seem in a similar geographical position, albeit a bit further north.
  9. A truly dull, dreary, bleak, honking bore of a day for the middle of summer. The sort of day that makes people emigrate. If we were still allowed to.
  10. There’s an east midland word, ‘rammel’ which has best described the weather for the past few days. Especially at the peak of midsummer. Hope is there for better days to come.
  11. Yeah, rained here a fair bit later on last night, with more forecast tomorrow and Monday. This rain has only come into the forecast today. Given the dominance of hp, where’s this rain come from, and why is it so difficult to predict until the very short term?
  12. Weather wise, it’s probably been the most depressing month I can remember. Such good news that we’re going to get some sunshiiiiiine and warmer temperatures. Just in time for the bank holiday and half term. Some great cycling and running weather. If it sets in for longer even better. ??
  13. If we had those charts in January, could anyone hazard a guess at what the surface conditions would be like?
  14. It’s grim out there. Yesterday was half decent, sunny and 16ish with a breeze. Today is grey and sullen. At least the pubs are open indoors on Monday, if the Indian variant doesn’t get there first. Happy Dayz.
  15. ....but Saturday, which was looking alright, is now terrible. I’ve never wanted some warmth as much I do now.
  16. The irony of the coldest April since global warming was a lad coinciding with outdoor only pubs will never not be hilarious/totally depressing.
  17. Mint all day here today. Warm enough aplenty for an outdoor pint. Which is a shame, cos nearly all the pubs round here are shut Mondays.
  18. Blimey I don’t know what’s worse, this chilly April weather, or the fact if we’d got similar synoptics in Jan/Feb it would have led to some great cold and maybe snowy conditions. I know it is only April but it’s frustrating that good hours of sunlight and outside only pubs are being wasted on maxes of 10 degrees. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’ve never wanted some decent warmth so much.
  19. Been following this forum for about 5 years and I still don’t know what dew points are....
  20. Today was cracking, the rest of the week looks terrible, especially with the kids off school, and everywhere shut. If we were getting 6 inches of snow than that’d be a different matter. I always associate April with some decent weather, and it’s a lovely time of the year when the sun comes out. 5 degrees, with a smattering of sleet? No thanks.
  21. Proper cold next week but a proper warm up the following week? That gets a from me.
  22. Beautiful summer’s day here at the end of March. Can’t believe the difference between now and next week, will feel absolutely Baltic. I don’t mind cold weather when it’s properly winter with the long nights and cosy firesides. When it’s not getting dark until half 7 it’ll just feel wrong.
