  1. Two industrial strength G&Ts just before bed sorted that out. Slept like a log
  2. Memo to self: Don't drive to work with wet hair and the roof down on the car. It looks like I've got a Guardsman's hat on
  3. If it's half as good as last Autumn's Atlantic storms, I shall be rather chuffed.
  4. I left Warwickshire in bright sunshine at 6am, now in Oxfordshire at 7:15 in thick fog. A funny old morning already.....
  5. METO warning just issued..... http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/#?tab=warnings&map=Warnings&zoom=5&lon=-3.50&lat=55.50&fcTime=1468278000&regionName=se "Summer's over....etc etc"
  6. According to my sunset/sunrise charts, we're losing 90secs of daylight every sunrise & sunset. Basically, Autumn is approaching at 3mins per day.
  7. Morning troops. More Monday morning low pressure gloom. Never mind, nearly Christmas.......
  8. Indeed. My alarm goes off at 5am and the sun's not risen yet. Still light though - just. I've not noticed the evenings changing yet as they're mostly overcast anyway
  9. The harbingers of Autumn are already here if you know where to look: Hawthorn and holly bushes dripping with green berries, hazel nuts are slowly forming, conker candles have given way to little prickly buds, cotoneaster bushes are showing a record crop, brambles (blackberries) are in flower and tiny, marble sized apples are everywhere. I'm looking forward to seeing my first Lords & Ladies in mid/late August.
  10. Indeed. I missed the Summer last year - I was on nights that week
  11. Misery on the Forecast Model Discussion thread tells you all you need to know about Summer 16
  12. To be fair, this topic should be open all the time, being as the UK climate resembles 1 month of Summer, 1 month of Winter and 10 months of Autumn
  13. Matt Hugo mentions it here with his early thoughts on Winter 2016/17 http://www.theweatheroutlook.com/twoother/twocontent.aspx?type=hpnews&id=3300&title=Winter+2016/17
  14. Darker mornings are drawing in by approx' 90secs every morning
  15. High summer is roaring along in my well shaded garden. Amongst it all are the harbingers of Autumn if you know where to look: Holly bushes dripping with green berries, hazel nuts are slowly forming, conker candles have given way to little prickly buds, cotoneaster bushes are showing a record crop, brambles (blackberries) are in flower and tiny, marble sized apples are everywhere. Cherries are already out and being eagerly consumed, damsons aren't too far behind them. Nearly autumn.........
  16. Excellent, that's the solstice out of the way, full steam ahead for Winter 16/17. Anyone seen an LRF posted up yet? Is this year's snowfall thread going yet? Love those little pixels....
  17. Songbirds and daylight now at 4:50am when my alarm goes off. Soon be solstice
