  1. Nope, but had the fire lit this weekend. First time EVER in July
  2. Autumn appears to have started in the South already
  3. Surely we've all now paid enough in 'Green taxes' to stop this nonsense?? http://news.yahoo.com/mini-ice-age-coming-maunder-minimum-spurs-controversy-125244720.html
  4. This is more like it, I come back from our holiday in sunny France, and an Autumn thread's open. 8-10 yrs ago, NW was heaving with snow watchers and LRFs one day after the Solstice - great fun!! Roll on Autumn/Winter 2015/16 Autumn's coming full steam in my garden already. The holly bushes and cotoneaster are heaving with green berries - a huge crop this year. Damsons are ripening nicely, acorns and hazelnuts are fattening up rapidly. Conkers are swelling by the day, apples everywhere.....all very encouraging.
  5. Not sure about 'significant' snow, but I was caught in a snowstorm on Glen Shee in July 1993-4ish. It can certainly happen
  6. Alarm went off at 5:05 and the sun wasn't in my eyes - we seem to have lost 10-15mins in the morning already
  7. Don't know what all the fuss is about? Drank 2 jugs of Pimms last night and slept like a log
  8. Already six minutes less daylight since the Solstice http://www.timeanddate.com/sun/uk/london?month=7&year=2015 The nights are drawing in - roll on Autumn
  9. Worked in Saudi for many years. Regularly over 50c in mid-summer Coldest - Gutersloh in Germany, -27c 1st week of Jan 1985 accompanied by 1mtr+ of snow. Can anyone dig up the GFS for that week??
  10. "UK set to be hotter than.... (insert name of hot place)....next week etc" http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/weather/11700073/UK-weather-Britain-set-to-be-hotter-than-Barbados.html
  11. A little spin around the garden last night sees the march to autumn in full flow: Damsons (still green) fattening nicely Green holly berries in abundance Hazel nuts just about visible, not there last week, but now bursting out Rowan flowers all disappeared and turned into berries. Conker 'candles' all gone and prickly little husks everywhere Bring it on...
  12. We're all going to die - again http://www.express.co.uk/news/nature/586404/Britain-freezing-winters-slump-solar-activity Naturally there's the obligatory quote from James Madden
  13. How cold did it get last night? Supposed to be single figures in West & Wales
  14. Single figure minimas predicted in the West tonight.
  15. Here we are again, the Summer Solstice is almost upon us and the planet begins its tilt back to Winter. How do you mark the event? Due to the lack of virgins in Rugby, any kind of Stonehenge style cavorting is out of the question. So I personally tend to stay up and watch the sunset rather than the sunrise - with a large glass of something to see off the sun. Fingers crossed for good weather and a fine view of the event.
  16. Not quite. Had dew on the car instead - I thought it was October !!
