Hazelnuts in my garden are ready now !! They're usually still a bit milky/mushy in August. That's at least 2-3 wks ahead of normal.

Still dark at 5am - hello Autumn

Temps down to 1c in Braemar last night. Hello Autumn !!

First day back at work for 3 weeks (hols in France & Cornwall) and it was a lot darker when my 5am alarm clock went off - always signals the start of autumn for me. Garden's in full swing for the coming months: Holly berries turning red, Rowan trees growning with red berries, brambles turning from green to black, 'Lords & Ladies' popping up, damsons nearly there, hazelnuts getting fatter by the day......etc Other signs - emails from my coal & wood supplier, local paper full of ads for Christmas lunches/Seasonal Menus - only 149 days until Christmas

Interestingly, a few US observers are predicting an even stronger PV this winter.

Time flies, the turning of the year is nearly upon us, and it's only 10 weeks until Autumn. My garden's in full swing for Autumn, green berries are in abundance on holly, rowan, cotoneaster etc. Green damsons are looking good too. It'll be time for a log & coal delivery before we know it !!
