Rather incredible outflow feature from the passing band of heavy rain that moved east. Shame there wasn't any sparks with it but was pretty damn impressed! -

Could see the convergence working its magic along here today. No thunder but was definitely a rapid increase in intensity -

Looks like there may be some good cloudscapes tomoz, lightning risk looks fairly limited but some good convection kicking about. Shortwave trough moving east through the day, all dependant on surface heating though and looks quite disorganised. Shear supports some strong wind gusts under the outflow of them. -

Thundersnow in Westgate earlier. Crazy stuff, heavy graupel and a flash of lightning as it turned to snow. Accumulation was a conglomerated mess of graupel and snow -
Crazy gusts just across the pond with that squall that went through the UK. Oostende in Belgium recorded 81 mph and a 6.6c temperature drop within 30 minutes.

00005.MTS.mp4 Sea spray earlier along the sea here in Herne Bay. The bandstand had recorded 74 mph just before I started recording. Don't have any video but damn near got thrown to the ground on the road just behind the pier on St George's Terrace. Must be a wind tunnel! -

Been a few gusts round here already that have caught me a bit off guard, sign of what's to come I suppose. Manston's up to 57 mph. It'll be up to above 70 by Friday. -

CW Outlook: Day 1 Convective Outlook VALID 06:00 UTC Wed 16 Feb 2022 - 05:59 UTC Thu 17 Feb 2022 ISSUED 08:02 UTC Wed 16 Feb 2022 ISSUED BY: Dan During the afternoon and evening hours, a marked mid-level dry intrusion will overspread a surface cold front shifting southeastwards across Ireland, England and Wales. Very strong low-level shear and some modest CAPE suggests the potential for shallow but intense convection, with line segments both along the cold front, and perhaps other clusters in the post-frontal environment through the evening/night. These will be capable of producing squally winds and perhaps one or two isolated tornadoes - and a SVR has been introduced to highlight this risk. While the convection will, for the most part, be too shallow for lightning there could be a few odd strikes from the strongest cells - this perhaps most likely over northern England (while the tornado risk, albeit still very low in any one location, is probably higher across Wales/Midlands/East Anglia). Further showers, some with squally winds, will continue to feed into Ireland and N + W Britain through the night hours, and there could be a few sporadic lightning strikes in western Scotland, for example. -

68 for me on the Met, can't recall the last time it was that high. Bristol Channel area definitely looking prime for a red nearer the time I'd of thought. -
Whitstable Times & Herne Bay Herald 02/03/1895 Incredible story that I found when searching through the newspaper archives on Herne Bay. It goes to show the incredible level of cold and that reflects in the station data. Although, I don't think I'd be that ballsy to walk on one even despite it being that cold! Margate had 31 frosts from 22nd of Jan to 20th of Feb. Jan 1895 had a mean of 1.65c, Feb had a mean of -0.88c. Jan 1895 had a mean min of -0.86c, Feb was -3.18c.
