Would take tonight's GFS 18z parallel. Has decent sneachta just a week away, one to watch.

The search for cold is over for me now. Looking forward to the weather picking up and getting a decent spring after last year's non spring.

Big pub run coming up. Is this the moment it all goes right?

What a disappointing spell. Atlantic muck delivers nothing again, quelle surprise.

How can people have so much faith in the models beyond 5 days if they couldn't even predict a snow event in South England/Wales within 24 hours.

Even though there was a downgrade during the week that LRF is still not bad at all. It is possible they have downgraded this week as the signals they have been expecting are not yet showing so rather than be left with egg on their face they have tempered the wording a little. Still an interesting month ahead and wouldn't rule out a repeat of last year yet.

Obviously snowed here this morning as there is a dusting outside but I was asleep so yet to see a snowflake fall this winter.
Still not giving up on this winter though, can see it been a late winter this year after we get over the mild incursion next week.

Berlin reveals that yesterday’s op showed a reversed flow in the trop 60/70N for days 1 through 9.
Given that we see an AO of -3 by Friday and we are currently in a wintry set up, we will be quite unlucky to see a form of zonality return next week (which doesn’t dive or split favourably)
i suspect glosea did a good job in spotting this reversal but not such a good job in having the Canadian vortex so deep
its tough on our little island to see winter - shows how incredible last feb/March’s beast really was !
Last year was good but shortlived, 2009/10 was the real daddy. Will not see a winter like that again for a long time.

Now that would bust my balls! Look at Dublin, the only place it falls as rain I'm not happy, in fact I'm quite sad!
Look again.

Just as the models start to hint at an easterly the Met Office downgrade. Ever get the feeling you're been taken for a ride?

Much ado about nothing all this. I'm sure some places will get some snow, possibly a lot, but the vast majority of people are not going to see much lying snow. Times running out on this winter, next weeks models watching will be vital if we are to salvage something out of it.

Met office lady did say that there are hints it will turn colder into February. That is the most significant thing I took from that Met Office video.

I'll just say guys that even though I don't understand most of the terminology in this thread, I am grateful to all of you for you input. Is there anywhere I can kind of learn a bit to understand what is being said?

Beginning to look good for snow next week. The North looks like it could be buried but almost everyone has a shot of getting in on the action. Exciting times.

All these sarcastic/negative 'what could go wrong posts?' are boring at his stage. Add nothing to the thread.

Why does nobody post charts during the run like they did in the last thread? For newbies like me it's so helpful and the other thread has a lack of it too.

How could anyone be negative about that long range forecast? Sounds great to me.

52 pages in 2 days is not dead, any reduction in levels of posting is output of models rather than tbe thread split.... as there is only 7 pages in the other thread it does not seem to scream the content is split.
Mods do a great job, impossible to get a thread split that everyone will agree with.
mods doing there
Last thread was much better imho.

Absolutely milling down now with big fluffy flakes. What a nice surprise.
